Four of us had dinner here in early April - and were very disapointed with the food and service. Two of us had fish and chips which tasted of curry. After complaining, we were given the option of sending it back - but, having eaten here before, we were not confident of any improvement. The staff seemed quiet indifferent to our needs and we have no plans to return. Its a shame because its a fine building with great poential with the right management.

Not bad place for dinner and beers. Lovely pub only spoilt and let down by the foreign female manager who is rude and often looses the place business to the other nearby pubs. Young girl and new guy with glasses is excellent though and makes up for some of the other staff. Good beers that are kept well.

Wonderful old building with good (if over-priced) food and tolerable beer. The only thing that spoiled my last visit was the attitude of the manager. Not a very happy or welcoming man who seems not to understand what an Olde English coaching inn should be all about. Shan't be going again until there's a change in the management.

Nice public bar, there was a good atmosphere. Rather disapointingly at 10.50pm on a Friday night whilst we all had almost full pints they started stacking all the chairs up around us, I think to prompt us to leave! Shame.

Interesting building. Food only average (no mint sauce available to accompany lamb). Quick service but we were the only customers at 7.45pm. Good parking.

The most expensive pub in Bletchingley and not the friendliest. Over 11 quid for two large whiskys!!! I would not recommend to anyone.

Good food. Shame about the beer, but then again I suspect its more of a G&T gaff. Might go back if someone else is paying ...

Despite being a hotel, so you pay hotel prices (no I don't understand why either), it's very pubby and not too bad at all. It's suffered countless refurbishments, but still retains several drinking areas, exposed beams and open fires. Currenty going through a leather sofa phase but hopefully, like everywhere else, it'll get over that.
Worth making a trip for the beer, Ringwood and St Austell today as well as Pride, and all in good nick. Assming the rooms are OK it would be a good choice if you need to stay in the area and like your beer.

£2.90 for a pint of London Pride? OMG!
No other complaints though...seems like a decent place to sink a few, if you can afford it!

I has been many years since I was last in this pub. Although the building has not changed the level of service was not as good as I remember when Derek King used to run it. The food was enjoyable, which was good after having to wait for ages. The drinks were well presented if a bit on the expensive side.

My experience of this pub was better than the previous three people as enjoyed my pint of Bombadier and the food, tho I would agree that it is a tad expensive. It has a great feel to it in the winter especially with the fire blazing in a huge fireplace. As for the garlic thing Gazelle you were unlucky I think; I've eaten here a few times without experiencing that.

Agree with comments below, good pint of London Pride, a pity the food was not to the same standard. Our waitress certainly didn't want to be there and a 10% service charge.

The Whyte Hart is a lovely building in the main high street in Bletchingley, The beer is good, but the food is questionable, be warned, the food is highly seasoned with Garlic, even Sunday Roast! (Giving stomach complaints.) Also very fatty food. Brought it to the attention of Manager to be told that it was normal! The staff whilst good gave the impression that they didn’t want to be there. Shame, won’t go again.

Hotel atmosphere with modern look and comfortable leather settees around an old fireplace. The Charles Wells Bombadiere lack flavour and the menu is expensive.
