Terrible pub, rude staff, NOT a family pub as states. Not safe for children. Loads off druggies and violence. Do NOT recommend.

I make a point of stopping by the Golden lion whenever i'm travelling up or down the A1, and have never had anything other than a great time. Lynne, Abbey & the locals are always welcoming and the beer is always first class.
Massive beer garden and BBQ area, which is great in the summer. The kids really enjoy the play area which also gives the parents a chance to enjoy a beer.
The Golden Lion is one of the most friendly & inclusive pubs i've ever been in.

Dark, dated interior, sketchy clientele, ugly kids' play area out back. Could be a lot better.

New landlady is a gorgeous, makes the beer taste better :)

Good beer (GK), super garden facilities, but the pub interior needs major re-design/re-furbishment to give customers more room and comfortable seating.

Nice pub, has a nice beer garden at the rear with lovely lights and an apple tree, also serves food here.
