Had a couple of decent pints of Kents Best in here last night, the old place is very tired and run down with a very chav and ladette clientelle, the landlord is leaving in a few weeks and I was informed that the new owners are Rick and Sandra who have spent the last few years running the Blacksmiths Inn at Ninfield into the ground, I also heard that the brewery is going to do a large refurbishment. No rating as yet, judgement reserved.

Had some beers after my wedding over the road at Battle Abbey. The staff accomadated us well and the locals were welcoming to us also. Nothing wrong with this place, Sheps beer a welcome bonus.Beats most other Battle pubs hands down. I am not a local to this area but recognising a pub that is trying when I see one !!

An average pub with friendly barstaff. Shepherd Neame beer - I tried 'Kent's Best' which was in good condition and served at a nice temperature.

Another pub in Battle that does NOT stand out. Bland service and what can one say good about Shepard Neame ales. The only good thing about the pub is that it seemed cleaner than most of the other pubs in the area

I agree with my husband on everything he said about the ABBEY!! Graham the owner has gone out of his way to make us feel welcome. After moving here from California and trying out the other local pubs, this is the one place that I have felt very comfortable in. The girls behind the bar are friendly and informstive, I really like them. And it is never boring. Thsnks Graham, you're OK in my book!!! and so is your Pub!!!

I must disagree stronly with the previous comments. We have found this pub to be very freindly and welcoming. It's clean and the Orangiboom is served just right. The food we've tried here is ample and well cooked with good service to boot. There's a pool table and plenty of seating. The usual array of eclectic Battle bar patrons take it in turns to prop up the bar on different days of the week so if you go in there a lot, you won't get bored by the same conversation. One things though......who on earth chose the tiles in the toilets? Yeuch!

I must agree and add the word "dirty"
|
A pub to be avoided! full of unwelcoming rude oiks, serving cheap, nasty "food" that almost defies description, the beer is insipid, the place is dirty and the staff couldn't care if you didn't enter the premises, so be warned, do'nt bother.
