I am totally in agreement with last comment. We love it here and its always busy so surely that says it all!!! Staff greet you with a smile and always polite, prices reasonable for area, lovely garden and food good. Some people are just sad and moaney and have nothing better to do.!!!!

I live with my wife in Rustington and love an excuse to enjoy a casual drink and a bite of lunch at the Oystercatcher when ever we are Bognor Regis / Climping way. I just cannot understand some of the snotty things that have been said about this pub. In my opinion the food is good, the service friendly and efficient and the prices are what you would expext to pay anywhere else. So if you have not yet stopped at the Oystercatcher, do it the next time you are passing.

Nice ambience, cottage style cleverly recreated in what's a relatively new building. Food varies. Last night we experienced an anaemic seafood mixed grill and a similarly presented sole fillets dish. Both devoid of any garnish or sauces. Food presentation leaves a lot to be desired. Stick to the basics like gammon and chicken and you normally can't go wrong. Beer okay, good selection of ales and lagers. Staff are dressed appropriately. No scruffy Herberts working here.

Food poor and not particularly cheap. I'm guessing the staff are quite transient as they were on the whole sullen. Beer not great.

This place was pretty good when it first opened a few years ago although after my recent visit I won't be heading back.

Went here bank holiday monday, and we were really dissapointed. As weather was really nice, we decided to sit out side. The tables had not been wiped, so sticky. A s a result wasps were rife. Food was not all that, and my dauchters tomatoe pasta had obviously been microwaved! Stuck to side of bowl. Burgers were like eating rocks and my husband and father in law did complain, and got 'oh' back!!!Really dissapointed!!!!! Garden needs a good tidy too, and if you did still feel hungry you could always pick one of the many 3 day old dry peas off the deck to eat... probably left for the rats!!!

Anyone who likes Chef + Brewer or Harvester type places will be at home here. Not a bad place generally. gets very busy on Sunday lunchtime. Get there early as you can't book and the car park gets full. Fortunately for the Oystercatcher there are many grotty pubs in the area (see Elmer Hotel at Middleton on Sea) so this place rates higher than many. Best to go there mid week and not expect a gourmet spread, then you won't be disappointed. Prices average. Beer OK

We love this pub, the service is fantastic, always a friendly face to greet you. I had the chicken once it was lovely and the bone that attaches the breast to the chicken had been left on so at least you know its from a real chicken, It would have been the biggest chicken leg I'd ever had! Keep up the hard work we know you all put in to make the place so welcoming. The building is kept so clean and the open fires are always so inviting.

We have regularly eaten at this establishment since its opening several years ago.
I do not normally do this kind of thing but I was annoyed by the attitude of the 'Manager' this evening. My wife had ordered a Chicken breast, but when she had finished it was obvious that she had been served a chicken leg. When I showed the bone to the 'Manager', he insisted it was a 'wing bone'.
This is not a claim for compensation, my wife having eaten the evidence. I just think others should be aware of what may be a scam to rip off customers. Chicken legs are a fraction the cost of breasts, and multiplied up by the number sold will net a nice windfall for somebody.DALEM

Have been to this pub a few times since it has been built and each time I'm met by massive disappointment. The food is obviously cooked in a microwave and ends up burnt and tasteless if at all and the service is appalling. Just goes to show that chain "pubs" are ruining the traditional English public house.

It appears that there is another side to Vintage Inns which belies their projected public image. You might care to look at mine and others experiences at the Golden Galleon. Regarding food orders I believe that when busy any order which requires some attention gets pushed to the back of the queue in order to speed throughput. If any of you out there have had similar treatment at the hands of Vintage Inns then write to Mitchells and Butlers managing director - address is on their web site.

We waited a long time for our food to arrive. In the meantime a man next to us had got food for his whole family but his did not arrive at all. When the manageress came to see him after he complained she actually screamed at him to get out although he had never raised his voice, he only complained about having no food. She repeatedly screamed at him until he and his family left because she wouldn't stop shouting. Our food when it arrived was burned and tasteless but we were more concerned about the man who didn't get a meal at all.

i'm sorry but the only good thing about this place was the dessert the service was awful and when we finaaly got our meals they were over cooked we won't be going there again

Don't be fooled by the look of the building, it was constructed around 1999 ish. Beer ok but you have to have a driver to get there from LA

Have visited this restaurant over the past 3 years on and off. they have 'recently' changed their menu and in mine and my friends thinking, for the worse. Abience is still good but is now on the expensive side for the food you get.

Visited 22 May, not bad for a Vintage Inns development. It's what looks like a 17th century house with a wood-beamed-thatched extension at one end and a conservatory type dining area at the other. Of particular note, the internal wood beams originated in Liverpool as part of ships! On the beer and food side, the real ale is unusually cheap for this area at 2.30 a pint - food, wide menu but the coffee is overpriced at 1.70 per cup.
However, the garden and fishpond could do with a bit of maintenance as could the gutter (detached) on the end of the conservatory. 7/10

Went in purely by chance as 'passing trade' when we wanted a bit of Sunday lunch. Did not not expect too much as it was a typical chain HArvester looking place.
How wrong I was. Service was quick and polite, food came quickly by friendly waitresses.
Harveys Best Bitter on draught is always a good sign in my book, and the prices were reasonable.
Plenty of parking and good seating outside.
All in all I was impressed and I have to say that I am not easy to please!

Nice building and surrounds but a bit bland and chain-like inside. Food rarely served hot. Beer selection poor. You could sit in here and be in a pub anywhere in the UK. Best for travelling reps and somewhere to go at short notice if you get a power cut!

Clearly a chain pub but very well done. Good location with decent car parking facilities outside the thatched building. The food is good although the Sunday lunch menu seemed to be a little restrictive. Interesting if you want to eat, they don't take table bookings but the kitchen is open from 1200 until about 2100 I think.

Its a Vintage Inn so its pretty much the same as all the others. Good food and friendly attentive staff. Beer not quite as well kept as others I've drunk in. Pretty thatched building with nice garden and plenty of parking.
