Abingdon Arms, Beckleyback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Saved in 2016 by a community share scheme, this didn't disappoint. We walked the 3 miles from Headington across the fields and it's a lovely stroll out from the city. Beers were generally local including Shotover while by chance, we ended up there for their annual 'Beckfest' which featured guest ales from Ramsbury, Cotswold and Vale among others. Veggie rolls were superb - normal food being suspended for this special occasion - while the garden is truly idyllic with amazing views. The only bum note was the slightly workaday music on offer in the shape of covers bands.

Country pub in an idyllic Oxfordshire village. Although with the toilets currently being refurbished, the portaloos in the car park don't quite fit the image. The pub was popular with those eating Sunday lunches on my visit yesterday. The only guy not eating other than myself turned out to be the landlord. 4 ales are served. Yesterday, they had Shotover Prospect & Porter, Chadlington Oxford Pale Ale & Fuller's London Pride. The Porter was nice. More a gastropub than a village local. But, the food did look good.

Visited recently on a Saturday lunchtime, nice welcoming atmosphere, the woodburning stove was very welcome after a cold mornings walk!
We chose from the lunch menu and the food was excellent, can't really describe the portions as ample though...
Drinks quite pricey, 2.20 for a half of coke and 3.30 for a pint of Brakespears Bitter.
Main meals look pricey too, and I suspect that most of the clientele are the more well to do locals, and visitors from Oxford who don't mind paying.
Would have rated higher but for the prices.

Wonderful setting in the village of Beckley, with stunning views over Otmoor from the back garden. Inside the pub is an appealing wood dominated affair, with a slight focus on (quite pricey) food. The Brakspear's offerings were well served, and I'd like to come back and try the Sunday Lunch sometime.

Took my family there for Sunday lunch calling just half an hour ahead on a Bank holiday weekend. They were busy but managed to squeeze us in. Warm welcome, lovely ambience, tasty Brakspear's Bitter. Food was the highlight though - pork medallions were melt-in-the-mouth delicious, and the roast beef and Yorkshire pud were just right. Menu a little more pricey than standard pub fayre (~12 for a main) but this is restaurant quality food in good sized portions and so excellent value.

This is great pub in a nice location. There is an outdoor area with lots of room for kids and a nice view. Good food too.
