This pub has been great since Dave and Yvonne took it over earlier this year. They really want to make it friendly and welcoming place to go and have recently started doing a carvery on Sundays which is something that has been missing for a while now. No dogs are allowed in anymore which is another good thing, along with the BNP which is even better. Keep it up Dave and Yvonne.

Well I wish I'd stayed at home last Saturday night or gone somewhere else, sadly I made a mistake and went for a few drinks with friends at the "Nazi Party HQ Catcliffe", formerley known as the Waverley! Thought it was supposed to be a friendly/family pub, will think twice about going there again!

Think cleopatra should get a life and a grip. The BNP are not the racist purveyors of hate, prejudice and malice people that you are making out them to be. If you actually sat and listened to what is said at these meetings you would realise that they do actually make sense in a lot that they say.

Sadly the Waverley is steadily getting the reputation as the local BNP party headquarters! I know people who prefer to stay clear of this pub because of this. Another meeting has just been held there in the family room, not very appropriate I think, customers had to put up with the usual "security/bodyguards" (Fatmen in Black), wandering around watching people and visually checking them out as they entered the premises! Not a very pleasant experience I have to say, not when you've come out for a quiet pint!
Come to think of it the majority of those attending the meeting were overweight, I wonder if they got that way eating Kebabs and curries?

Yes the Waverley is nice and peaceful now that Ron is back. However, every now and then the pub's reputation is put at risk when used as a meeting place for the purveyors of hate, prejudice and malice, namely the BNP, very few of whom ever set foot the place except for these so called "political" gatherings. Don't ruin your pub Ron by letting these Fascists in any more.

Congratulations to the Landlady for a wounderful efficient service on the occasion of a wedding I attended. There was hot buffet provided for the afternoon reception, followed by a cold buffet in the evening both was to a very high standard carried out personally by the landlady who was very polite and friendly making all the guests feel totally welcome.
The room was decorated and colour co-ordinated with the colour of the bridesmaids. We would highly recomend the waverley for wedding receptions or parties for all occasion

Crikey. Popped in the other Sunday, but won't be again! God knows what's going on with the decor, it's just as bad as the general clientele. Terrible. Looks like nobody gives a toss about it.
anonymous - 14 Aug 2006 18:49
This pub is very much out of date the decor is shadie and the landlady is very rood to most of the customers. You can not get to the bar because of the people that sit there. The place is very unclean in the male toilets there is 3 cubicles one is out off order the other has no seat and the last one has no door on and it is the disable toilet At the bar smoking is encouraged I think this is legal in the UK. The family room is not used by families now we do not know when it is open and they is now seats out side now they are used for functions in side this is not a good thing when is ron coming back please.
anonymous - 2 Aug 2006 15:37
Family run pub that unfortunately needs refurbishment or at the very least re-decorating. Standard of clientele could be improved if the Landlord did as I've just suggested, and also prevented certain individuals ruining what little atmoshpere it has by the regular and uncontrolled use of extremely bad language.
