Sold for luxury flats. Shame on whoever facilitated this. 300 years of history. Pure greed.

Glasgow Boy - Good chance I might of seen you there in 84/85 as my family were living on Inverness Terrace at the time. Wasn't my everyday local, but used quite a bit. Didn't like they way they opened it up when I was back in London, but things change. I read last year the property is up for 28M quid or something. Shame.

Cheers

Spent most of my time in here from 1975-1985. Closed for ever earlier this month.

Avoid. Has become a tourist trap and now staffed by the tourists too - they don't even speak decent English.

Found my pint was off and asked the surly barman if he could swap it over. He proceeds to pour another and tries to charge me for it! when I protest, he says it's not his pub but then proceeds to pour the new pint down the drain.

A real "gem" to avoid like the plague.

Quite expensive Taylor Walker pub with 3 real ales, London Pride, GK and Landlord. Quality OK.

Lived around the corner from this one in the 80s. Wasn't really my local, but when lazy would pop in each week.

They made it much larger when they blew out the glass wall which is a shame. Went in mid October on a Sunday reading the papes. Not bad. Very open and no problem with the barmaids. It didn't feel like a local like it used to be though (previous posting with the tourists). I think having all those tourists tours etc around the area bring them in. Not bad, but noting to go outta the way.

Nipped in here the other day after an afternoon in Hyde Park,

Was met by a very rude and surly barman, 4 a pint and 8 a chip sandwich.

How ridiculous.

Pubs alright, perfectly sittable, but the lager was poor and the food was way too pricey. Bar man really set a bad atmosphere for me.

Oh dear I didn't know this was a Spirit pub until I entered. What a pity - great location, nice decor, friendly staff - all one could ask for really.

I have been in here on previous London visits and found it decent if nothing else could be found. This past weekend I stopped in with family and was looking forward to a pint after a long walk through museums and Hyde Park. We went in and found GK and LP- oh well, not any of my favorites but...

ordered an LP and found it was off and the only real ale was GK. Ok, I guess but disappointed anyway. We ordered a Ploughman's lunch as a snack, as we missed lunch and didn't want to spoil dinner. The lunch was quite nice, with excellent cheddar, ham and fruit. The baguette was microwaved, so it was like a steamed hot dog roll. All in all though, the food was the best part of the visit.

I dropped into this very international pub a few weeks ago, and despite the fact that it was packed to the rafters with tourists, I enjoyed it. The landlord was really hospitable and friendly. There's only a small range of ale, but it's good stuff, and the food was simple, well-made and tasty. I'd go back there again.

OK pub with nothing special to offer. My boyfriend loved the real ales.

Why were they showing repeats of Wimbledon on thw Sports TV?

This place is every thing i hate about these sort of places.I dont want to sit in a place where everyone is eating bar food and watching tv.I am not stupid and realise that tv's and food generate much needed cash but i prefer a pool table and a juke box. lucky everyones diferent i suppose .nice enough place with a long history

Full of tourists though it would be hypocritical to complain as I was one.Why do we always feel that we are not like other tourists.Watched the champions League final the night I went in and people didnt seem to mind the handful of Spaniards supporting Barcelona.I nearly broke my neck tripping over the door entrance and I was not the only one.Still the Pedigree was fine and I loved the Burgundy ceiling. There's something about that colour...

Nice looking pub. Not much to see from the outdoor seating but tourists dragging their suitcases behind them. Nothing overly striking about the pub. Nothing that ever kept me comming back.

Cheers for the heads up. Will have to check it out. From my last posting here, a lot of funny times in this place. Especially my brother seeing some geezer getting bottled for the first time. Priceless. Cheers/Joe

This pub recently had a massive refurbishment and it looks fantastic! They have great service and a really good large range of beers from all over the world. It is a little more expensive than some other pubs in the area but you pay for quality. I like it ffro nipping in for a quick pint.

Not that bad. Used to live around the corner of this pub in the 80s. Back then it was sometimes a bit nutty, but comfy. Looks like they gutted a lot of things in there. A bit bland looking. I prefer taking a left outside the pub and walking up to the leinster arms about 4 blocks up. cheers/joe
