The Guiness is still fabulous, Richard the Landlord runs a friendly pub with an eclectic clientele. This is not a bad thing, and the mix is very happy and convivial.

Proper boozer. Landlord always has a slightly befuddled expression as befits landlords of old, before they became obsessed with marketing and left it to having a decent pint in front of a real fire. Decent pint of Pride. Two bars one of which has plasma tv's for the football, second much quieter. Pork scratchings and peanuts the limit of the food, thankfully a pub that has refraned from becoming a gastro. Bar staff friendly and helpful.

Old fashioned corner local. Two casks. Limited soft drinks. Little effort made. Laid back. There are features in the bar that are of note, but on the whole it feels small, cluttered and unremarkable. On a different occasion it could appear quite charming.

As described - nice, cosy and traditional, but welcoming to all; let down by a dull pint of TEA (what's wrong with Bass !)

Great, traditional back-street boozer in an area full of poncey bars and chain pubs. It's great to escape here on a Saturday afternoon and read the paper or watch some sport with a few pints of Hog's Back T.E.A. Marvellous.

One of the best pints of Guinness in London, a friendly staff, and a back room that's all I could ask out of a pub.
Not the widest beer selection--the kind of place where you pick a drink and stick with it. Not the cheapest pint around by a long shout, either--but worth it when a good beer and maybe a chat with the managers or a quiet place to read the paper is what you're after. The pub quiz on Tuesdays is good fun as well!

Nice traditional pub not too far from Notting Hill Gate. Note the immensely impressive ornate bar back and the swan logos on the glass work above the main windows. This pub used to be called The Swan and is on the CAMRA Regional Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. Mainly a locals pub, but friendly and welcoming to visitors. Seems to be run by a rather genial and large Irishman. 2 real ales on last Sunday - London Pride and Hogs Back TEA. Rather cowardly, I went for the London Pride - should have tried the TEA in retrospect. There is a large main room with a nice warm fire for cold weather. Note the snob screens by the bar counter, although I suspect they are not original. In conclusion, recommended and well worth visiting
