Nice beer garden and nicely done out interior.
Usually quiet at lunch but can get busy in the evenings.

I worked at South Bank Uni for while and would nip into the Wetherspoon for a pint of £1.45 Theakston. I eventually got irritated by the 'Giro-Beer-Money Feigned-Injury Job-Dodger' brigade swearing and stumbling all over the place and decided to switch to the E & C. Much better atmosphere, lovely friendly barmaid (I like an older woman, wink wink!), and worth the extra quid a pint.

I used to drink at the Elephant and Castle when I lived nearby. I remember Jackie always bussing around but Seamus was a twat and had no friends. Seemed to have a chip on both shoulders. Good manager there now and very nice Thai Food available. If you didn't go Seamus, the old faces would have. I still keep in touch with the area and the new garden is fantastic. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Jackie, Seamus and the staff are now running the crown in Lee. Please come down and join the quiz on sunday nights from 830pm, we would love to see some old faces.
Thanks Crown, Lee

You are having a laugh, this place is grotsville city!!
Only slightly better than the cesspool otherwise known as the Wetherspoons 5 doors up.
There is nothing decent about anything associated with the E&C, the only pub I would give the time of day is the Duke of York on Southwark Bridge Road.

Great pub in a good location near London tourist area. Jackie and staff will always welcome you with a smile and fair prices. Accommodation basic but clean. For extra security you can make sure the gate to the street is locked.

Definitely is the best pub in the Elephant, even if it is situated opposite the ugly pink shopping centre. Big TV for watching sport, good beer, friendly customers, and David and his staff give 110% to their customers, and it must be good because Mr Gregory (a well known celebrity) has been here with guests on a number of occasions.

Probably the best pub in the Elephant. Great for watching sport, wide range of drinks (Bud on tap, top food (sasuage and mash is excellent). Recommend it.

Helpful staff and good atmosphere. Being able to get a room for the night upstairs very good after a session.

In response to Brian, the shopping centre aint been pink for years. As for the pub, it's better than Charlie Chaplins. Rude staff mind.

Is this the one accross from that ugly pink shopping mall? If it was I found it to be the most hospitable pub I have found in all of London (considering the circumstances). I was the only white (and American) man in the pub during the 1999 England vs. New Zeland rugby match at Twickenham. The place was packed and these Gentlemen still found room for me to sit at their table.
The food was decent the ales were good but the croud and the staff went above and beyond. Thanks to all for a great time. Even though All Blacks won.
