Not sure about this one. Good average pint but place did not feel quite right. difficult to put my finger on it. Would not leave off a beer tour but if tight for time round here this is the one I would consider missing.

Attentive staff and an excellent beer garden. Good selection of ales but the toilets seriously need renovating.

Dropped in yesterday afternoon. 4 real ales on and the 6X was pretty good. Exterior belies a decent pub. I prefer this to the other 2 local pubs personally. I'm told it gets mobbed on a Sunday between 12 and 3 as they drop real ale prices to 2.30. Happy to join the queue at those prices.

What a hidden gem, a huge beer garden right in the middle of old town. Always a nice pint of cask!! Looking forward to their outdoor beer festival in July. nice people

A rather solemn-looking exterior, but a bright modernised bar with friendly staff and customers. They had wisely put extra beers on during the Camra AGM weekend, including a decent IPA from the Hepworth brewery across the border in West Sussex. Since the sun was shining, the beer garden proved an excellent spot to sit and have a relaxing pint.

easily a nice refreshing pub to go into that my good friend steve recommended on my visit to eastbourne..bit surprised about some of the negative comments mind ...overall a bloody good pub..nice landlady from radcliffe too may i add!!beer was spot on during my visit and was a very friendly esablishment to cooncer with the star..so you people who live within the proxemity of these pubs you have little gems on your doorstep..keep up the good work.

My view on this pub upon entering was that it was ok, but nothing to write home about. The barmaid was friendly and 6X and Spitfire were available with a few bog standard lagers. There is a pool table and a dart board with a small outside area with limited tables and chairs. The toilets were a little smelly and the atmosphere was hard to find.

Fortunately it was a lovely day and the misses ventured into the pool room and out the back door and up some stairs to find a big sloped beer garden with fantastic views to the downs. The benches were spread out perfectly for families to enjoy themselves without encroaching on others.

You cant go wrong with this place on a nice sunny day, but Id probably drink elsewhere if it was overcast and raining.

Visited this pub after spending an evening at The Star round the corner. Would not recommend this pub, lifeless, unfriendly staff. I'll stick to the Star from now on.

Been drinking here for two years and have found it friendly and welcoming. We all look for something different in a local-for me the decor is not important; the beer is. Consistently good (and changing) ales here, a great garden for my kids, who are warmly welcomed by Jo and Andrew and friendly locals from all walks of life. It's nice to have a community pub-not a one size fits all, flatpacked and homogenised, keg only,no dogs allowed marketing- obsessed excuse for a pub. We have enough of those.

I went in to this pub and it lacked atmosphere and personality. It was mid evening and virtually empty. Strange flowers on the bar and decor looked tacky.

Spitfire, 6X, & Bass. Bass was ropey, Spitfire ran out but was fine when changed. Modern looking bar on one side, sofas & dartboard sit a little oddly together, blackboard dangerously close to dartboard for someone scoring a player as bad as me. Somewhat lacking in character.

well...what can i say!!!
i have never been made to feel more welcome in a pub before.
felt like one of the family on my birthday because Jo (landlady) made me a cake for my surprise party, they even decorated the pub!!! how many pubs do you see that in? i'll tell you, not many!
Recommend this pub to anyone. great for young, old and families alike!
P.S: great quiz on thursday and chance to win extra money in 'play your cards right'.

Since Andy & Jo have taken on this old town pub, They have injected a new life into it. They are friendly and extremely welcoming. If you require something they are only too happy to try and accomodate your requests.
An all round great pub. Very large garden, Pool, darts and a large tv screen for sports events. They also hold a fantastic quiz night on Thursdays. And the latest is Themed Sundays....Usually involves cocktails and outrages ideas as themes...see blackboard for next theme! Only negative if a beer drinker is choice is limited. But well worth a visit.
