Now called The Rainbow... Building and garden still stunning and has had a makeover. My problem is it felt 'corporate'.. I also didn't like the fact they seemed to be demanding people wore masks inside even though government restrictions had been lifted in these post lockdown days.... my long man bitter was also a bit sour... food was good but a couple of ponds overpriced. Okay, but preferred the Lamb..

Found this pub at the back of Waitrose in Old Town Eastbourne, after shopping. Popped in for a drink. Stayed for something to eat and ended up having items off December early Christmas menu. Lovely lamb shanks and tasty chocolate pudding. Warm and cosy, like a traditional pub should be. Will no doubt return. Not sure if they do actual Christmas lunch though.

An architechtural delight! Everything about the pub was very well done, it looks as though food would predominate but it doesn't the beer is taken seriously as testified by my lovely pint of Franklin's Citra. I will re-visit as soon as possible. If I found a gripe possibly a bit pricey but very worth it.

Almost empty a lunchtime, which was worrying and beer below par. Pity lovely building and garden and may be worth a risk if you are on a crawl but try a half first!

My first visit for a while. A pleasant atmosphere and helpful staff. 3 good ales on, including Pale Rider from Yorkshire. Yes, skippybn21, it's a bit expensive, but not incredibly so. You must be confusing it with the Lamb, where you need to pay in instalments!

Nice in the summer but incredibly expensive for a pint. There's a nearby cashpoint, presumeably because after 2 pints you won't have enough money left.

Very pleasant place to spend an evening, particularly when the weather is good enough to enjoy the garden. Usually always three real ales on (all local and regularly changing) - the 1648 Triple Champion last night was particularly nice. Mixed range of clientele, the place can get packed at times

Looks like a foodie pub but then again it was just after Sunday lunchtime. Only 2 real ales on and 1 of those was past its best. Arundel Trident was OK though. Hardly any change from 5.00 for a pint and a half makes this place too expensive for me to want to come back when I can get better beer cheaper within a few minutes away at the Eagle.

Love this pub in the summer, can't wait to experience the open fires in the winter. The staff are always friendly and the beer's always good. Quick note to Booze_Allen, I'm not 100% sure but think the White Gold might be a Weiss Beer, hence the cloudyness. Also can't wait try the food as the menu looks good and a bit different. Jam night on a thursday is probably the best in town.

The beer garden is the most noticeable thing about this pub, more so as it was a sunny day and there was a wedding reception on. The pub itself was quite good with three beers of which one was White Gold - it was Ok but we noticed it was very cloudy - end of the barrel as it was turned round shortly after. Worth seeking out next time I return.

An excellent beer garden, located in a dip in the Old Town that provides shelter from the coastal breezes. Not a great choice of beer (just two ales and a cider), but the White Brewing Campany's 'White Gold' from nearby Bexhill tasted just fine. Friendly staff, and some good value bar food too.

This is a lovely looking pub that was apparently built in 1588. As with all old pubs there are a couple of low beams, so if youre 6 foot+ watch your head on the way to the toilet as one of these beams nearly took mine off.

The barmaid was very friendly and polite, but the barman needs to lighten up a bit and maybe try smiling. At the very least he could acknowledge the customers when they say hello or thank you.

Summer Lightening and Doombar were available alongside 2 standard lagers.

As mentioned before, I think that the main attraction of this pub is the well laid out and cared for beer garden. It was a great location for the wedding reception that was taking place whilst I was there.

The next time Im in Eastbourne I will visit again.

Student vibe in the bar, and student barman running up & down from cellar. We did wait a while but, whilst I can identify (from days of yore) with the probs of running a bar on yr own, it was all a bit chaotic & we moved on. The entrance & garden area looked quite grandiose & I expect that when things are running ok it's a decent place for a pint (Spitfire & Pride?). No rating yet.

Really nice beer garden. Although the pub seems to have been invaded by teenagers in the past few months.

Great pub and lovely sunken garden feel in the summer when outside.

Just been taken over by a great new manager who is hell bent on shaking the place up. The food has got better and the garden has been improved. Once again a safe place for the ladies. A great place for pre towning it in the summer.

Good place to sit outside in summer, and possibly the only place you can do this is the Old Town area. But personally I don't the beer's as good as the Lamb or The Tally Ho.
