Good beer, and a warm welcome from the young landlady who has recently taken over. Would have liked to stay longer.

A traditional, street corner boozer in the heart of Redland. Its a good sized open plan affair, with the pub wrapping almost entirely around the central bar counter. Presumably it must have been separate rooms at one time, but somebody in their wisdom has decided to open it all out. In fact I thought it was separate rooms last time I was in here, but that was many years ago so I may be mistaken.
Decor is quite traditional, other than the dark green paint on the ceiling, consisting of green patterned carpet with a few tiles around the bar, red drape curtains and some wood panelling. There were several shelves of books and quite a bit of stained glass, which was an unusual, and interesting, feature.
There was a pool table at each end of the pub, a darts board, a sign advertising a pool tournament each Thursday as well as a projector screen, although this was folded up out of sight. It was very busy with a good mix of ages on a recent visit.
Beers on tap were Butcombe and Wickwars BOB. Ciders were Blackthorn, Stowford Press and Thatchers Traditional. A number of punters were also drinking cans of Natch.

very clicky pub. Don't go in unless you're with someone who knows someone etc. Good for darts but thats about it. Terrible smell when I went on Monday 9th Aug. Must have problem with drains. Had to sit in courtyard which was rather quaint and drew a wry smile.

Nice pub, again not been in for years but nothing much seemed to have changed. Well boring beer range including Butcombe & Gloom Bar {yawnnn} but at least they served a nice pint of Thatchers Trad @ 2.45 a pint.
As f_b_b said a great range of snacks including the all time classics of the snack world:- Bacon Fries, Cheese Moments & Scampi Fries! :-)

Again sharps doombar aargh not a bad pub , but seems to have accumalated a few local idiots , that the landlady seemed frightened of , ok but not worth going out of your way for.

The kind of boozer you might want to duck into out of the pouring rain, maybe. Old-fashioned, can be a bit cliquey, but not much wrong with that??
Poker night on Sunday, which leaves little room for everyone else, but that is a minor quibble. Friendly, cosy, decently priced.

Tend to agree with everyone , a really nice interior , comfy seating , plenty of room . beer choice perhaps a little limited , doombar ,and butcome , but very good.

2 Handpumps ,Decent jukebox, and more confectionary than a school tuck shop!! Who says DoomBar & Curly Wurly's don't mix???????? 7/10

Good pint of Butcombe in this really nice welcoming pub. Suprisingly big inside with pool table at one end, TV screen in main bar area and music which was not to intrusive so people could talk without having to shout. Friendly bar staff, efficient and quick. Will visit here again soon!

What does BR 29973 mean? I've seen you mention it on a couple of pub reviews and i'm intrigued!
|
Thatchers rough,Doombar and Butcombe available at reasonable tariff(cider 2.10). Friendly serving wench,(Emma?) BR 29973 type! Decent jukebox,Doors playing. Vicious cellar opening just inside behind the bar! Nice few punters in. Smoking out front by the looks of it. Not bad overall. Yes revisitable.

Great pub - really accepting of newcomers! Great pool table and the poker seems to be popular as well.

weird weird place. beautiful building and stain glass windows - nice beer, they used to have Butcombe Ales - but that was a long time ago.
But weird punters...
