Thank the mighty Zarquon this place is dead. It was the kind of bar where you counted your fingers when leaving. If it had been used as a movie set for some gangsta film it would have been too OTT and unbelievable. Plastic scum central. Trouble is when places like this close down the cockroaches that inhabited it seek new homes. I think many of them have scuttled down the road to Hot Shots in Catford.

And another one bites the dust! What a shocker of a pub this became when it changed from the Plough.

Was last in hear way back in 2003 and even then it was the kind of place you would get stabbed as a "Friendly" greeting. I'm glad this hovel has now closed it's doors. But frankly, Lewisham is NEVER going to get decent pubs or attract decent punters.

Hopefully it will be pulled down and erased from history.

Now boarded up. See my previous post. No surprise really, this was a terrible boozer.

Is this really a pub?

I remember when the 1998 World Cup was on and Pitchers was a 'sports bars', particularly enjoying watching Brazil v Scotland with college friends. Now to say this is a sports bar is as ludricious as saying Chelsea's Frank Lampard had a brilliant 2006 World Cup for En ger land. Talk about going downhill. Don't even bother think about a Friday or Saturday night

Watch your back and wash your hands when leaving.

I was very impressed with the remote opening of the toilet door from behind the bar. As me and my mate were the only two customers at the time I felt pretty special.

A truly awful pub, far-removed from it's days as The Plough, our school hangout many years ago.

Utterly bleak. Can't believe it hasn't closed yet. Tinme to move the roundabout south 100 yards and destroy this hellhole.

This place is rotten, literally. Tables, carpets, walls, all look, smell, and feel as if they are actually rotting. Don't go near it. It is not, NOT a sports bar!

Pitchers has a lovely beer garden out the back (concrete slabs, a few dead plants and a couple of scabby pieces of garden furniture) Place looks like a fight waiting to happen most nights, totally unwelcoming. Why it is called a sports bar I have no idea, I am totally bemused that anyone would bother to drink there.

Grim, intimidating - not much different from its old incarnation as The Plough.
