It's nice to have the Keys open again, this time under the leadership of Shelley. Have had a couple of meals and as expected well cooked and presented, especially the salad by Graham. I wish her well for the future.

Pub closed at the moment, landlord did a runner. Lets hope the new landlord listens to those who use the pub.

New Ownership, New menu, on the pricey side. Popped in at the weekend to have a pint and a pud. If this dessert had been served after paying nearly 20 for a main course, I would not of been very happy, it looked as if a 6 year old had thrown it on the plate.
The Bar side though is pleasant.

Popped in late on Sunday afternoon - so it was quiet, tho not empty. Beer was good but limited choice (6X + Henry's). Menu looked good, and they serve food all day which could be handy. Bar staff seemed pleasant. Nice garden and comfortable interior - well worth a visit.

Pleasant village pub that was reasonably busy with locals and had a nice garden at the rear, complete with a fish pond, chicken pen and the sounds of cows and sheep in the nearby fields! The interior has been modernised, but not to its detriment. Wadworth 6X & Henry's IPA were the only 2 beers. Westons Stowford Press was the cider.

I am an occasional visitor to this pub and have noted its ups and downs over the years. On my latest visit I was pleased to see the bar fill with lcocals and visitors, I think something has improved. The staff were friendly, the food good and the beer well kept, just a shame that Wadworths think that a guest ale is another Wadworth brew. My only negative is the service, even though I arrived at 6.30 in the evening it took over 3/4 of an hour to get a menue, being told they had to wait for the specials to be written up. After another long wait I had to remind the chap behind the bar that I was waiting to order. Eventually someone took our order, only to return a few minutes later to say they had got the specials wrong and it would cost us more money to have the meals we ordered. The meal, by the time it arrived, was good but along with the evening rather spoilt by the poor customer service. To top it off they got the bill wrong, sadly not in my favour. I would not wish to put anyone off from going to this pub as it has a lot going for it but I hope they take note and improve the customer service.

The Keys now has new tenants in Stephen and Kamil so ignore comments about Mike and Ellie's regime. The pub in now coming back to life as a real village pub where locals gather in increasing numbers.Old friends have now returned as the beer quality has improved and the food selection and quality has also improved enormously. There is something for everyone on the menu at acceptable prices.I have used this pub for 27 years and was despairing of its future under the previous tenants but am now optimistic.Under the care of Stephen and Kamil things will only get better.Come and see for yourself.

I have to wholly disagree with the last review posted. The Cross Keys is far busier than it has been for the past two years. It now offers good value for money food and has moved away from being a pretentious foodie restaurant back to being much more of a village pub. The staff are friendly and welcome all unlike previous landlords (no dogs or children). Give it a try!!

Be very afraid. The clowns taking on this pub from 01/09/2010 were recently running (down) the Seymor Arms (Wadorth) in East Knoyle. The so called "chef" can't cook, the management attacious, God help the god souls of Corsley!!!

I have eaten at the Cross Keys four times since Elena and Mike took over and have thorough;y enjoyed every meal I have eaten there. I can particularly recommend the potted crab and the belly pork. The seafood is also beautifully prepared and incredibly tasty. The coffee is excellent too. The atmosphere in the pub is cosy and welcoming, with fresh flowers in every room and the Sunday papers available for guests to read. There is a beautiful enclosed garden at the back, which the pub uses for barbeques throughout the summer on Sunday and Monday evenings. I have visited the pub with family and friends who have also been impressed with the friendly service and high standard of food. I cannot recommend this cosy country pub enoughand am looking forward to my next visit already.

I was lucky enough to visit this great place for a meal with some family and friends recently. I must confess to being fairly local so I have known the pub through several changes of hands, but hopefully that makes me fairly well qualified to comment.

The trouble with a lot of pubs in villages is that they get the pitch all wrong. You tend to find over-priced pseudo gastronomic over-ambition or, alternatively, an unwelcoming sea of insipid Iceland chicken nuggets; so it is rare indeed to encounter people who do it just right. Which is where Mike and Elena (and their staff) come in. These guys clearly know what they're doing.

If you go for a meal in the Cross Keys right now you will be delighted by a compact yet perfectly varied menu, a refreshing lack of pretension, attentive (but not too attentive!) staff, relaxed surroundings, and food of the highest quality (and a testament to an exceptional and intelligent chef).

I think the highlight for me was just how well the food side of things was thought out. I think everyone in my party had a different meal and they were all excellent. Nothing was ostensibly flashy, or affectedly gastro, it didnt need to be as the devil was in the detail. This was great tasting, honest, perfectly cooked, and highly memorable food.

Value for money is also in abundance, the menu is perhaps reassuringly expensive but not extortionate compared to many places who are simply not in the same league, and you do get the feeling you are getting quality ingredients cooked by skilled hands, so you feel you got exactly what you paid for.

It really was a case of everything being just so and I came away wanting to tell everyone about the place. The little secret going on is that Elena and Mike have extremely impressive CVs within the trade, and when you have a meal at the Cross Keys it really does show. I just pray that given the current climate, the industry, and this dour and miserly country in general, they both have the chance to do their magic at the Keys for many years to come, or until they move onto even better things.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this pub/restaurant to anyone, it is impossible not to come away impressed. 11/10.

What a fantastic pub!! Took my little boy (5 years) in there for lunch yesterday. Vic the new landlord made us both feel very welcome. I have heard great things about their Sunday lunch and will be making a booking in the very near future.

The new managers Vic and Lynn are very welcmoing and friendly. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced for the area. If you are looking for a lovely meal in a warm atmosphere it's definately the place to go.

A little off the beaten track this Wadworth Pub places a large emphasis on its food with a fine menu including locally smoked trout. Staff seem polite and helpful and the atmosphere is good. Good range of Wadworth beers all well kept, and the food is very good, with big portions although a little pricey. There were children in the Bar, albeit of age 11 and over who were made perfectly welcome. Don't really feel to aggreived if A Pub is not family friendly as Pubs are not for children anyway, and if that is the policy of the owners then that is up to them

I pop in regularly for a very good pint and I've eaten here with my wife a couple of times. Food's always been good, if not exceptional. Winelist is very good for local pubs in the area. The landlord isn't rude he's just got a very dry sense of humour and enjoys taking the mickey. I've got two kids and don't mind at all that they're not allowed in - makes for a nice change to be able to go somewhere and not be surrounded by little'uns!

An update: my wife went here for lunch. She had a very nice steak baguette and the beer was good too. She said that the staff were snooty.

I can confirm that children (under 12) are not allowed into the pub. They won't even have a baby in the beer garden. Apparently this pub is in the Good Beer Guide 2007, but they won't be getting my custom.

The pub is run by a very nasty and rude manager. The food is not very good. There is a very smoky bar area that invades the eating area. The waitresses are poorly trained. It is not family friendly. Another local pub says that this place only gets bad reviews in the comments book of the local pub and that no one likes the manager. There was another couple who were complaining as we sat down to eat. Steer clear of this pub.
