A very smart Marston's pub near to the Old Fort. The place is really good, decent food, polite staff. The only obvious draw back is that only Marston companies beers are served.

Good place to come and eat if you have a dog. Large spacious bar area with additional restaurant seating. Food was good and the beer, Razorback was excellent.

Visited on Monday 23rd Sept after reading the rather old but decent reviews and although it was 9pm we were the only people in the whole pub. Shame as it looked a nice place and had a friendly but rather bored barmaid, however the beers were very limited, only three Ringwood ales with the Boon Doggle costing £3-60 !!
More choice please.............

I have been coming to the Nothe Tavern for almost eight years now and have never once been disappointed. Caroline and James have done a fantastic job on maintaining and improving upon the warm character and comfortable atmosphere and the food, staff and overall quality of service on offer is amongst the best you'll receive in Weymouth or anywhere else.
I last visited the Nothe for my brother's birthday. We had a great table, all laid out with decorations and the food was superb. Big portions that hadn't sacrificed flavour or quality for size. A good selection of ales and an always attentive, friendly and helpful staff on hand for whatever you need.
I honestly can not recommend this place enough and I never have to try too hard to find a reason to visit. With the coming of the Oympics this year and the new developments listed in the local paper, the Nothe Tavern is definitely going to be the place to be this summer and, if there's any justice in the world, for a long time after.

Spent a week in Weymouth recently, came back to this pub time and time again, by far the best place to eat and drink in Weymouth Harbour. People in charge really knowhow to run things here, brilliant food and service, everything top notch including Jess the cat, even if he jumped on my wifes lap trying to scrounge a bit of steak, all great fun, great evenings. Very efficient and professional girls work here, especially Gill and Kerry. Look forward to next visit

A good pint of Marstons(Ringwood) Fortyniner was quaffed in their lovely panoramic beer garden, well worth a visit if you can find this pub that's quite tucked away from the main town centre. 7/10

The wife and I ate there last night, My Ringwood best was off and when I returned it the barmaid did say that someone else had complained. She replaced it with a pint of Marstons "Ashes" which was good. I did note her later on, pulling through a new barrel of Ringwood best.
I had roast belly pork, it was fantastic! With Dauphenoise potatos and mushy pea's. The wife had a burger, However, this was no ordinary burger, it was more like a piece of fillet. Presented in a home made bun with fries, nice salad with dressing and a chutney.
The carvery which we from eat from time to time is always a recommend.
In the summer out in the beer garden the views across the river and bay are great.

Just had a another week in Weymouth (we went last year) and made a return trip to The Nothe Tavern. (See previous postings). I ate here three timed during the week and each occasion the Food was perfect. on e one occassion the service was not as good in that my party had to ask for condements, sauces and cutlery to eat the starter with. The beer (Brakspears Bitter) was top notch at 3 a pint. which is cheaper than my local which is nearer the Brewery in Oxfordshire. Recommende if in the area. Hopefully will be going back next year. Buy the way the pub id dog friendly and if you eat in the Pub part and not the restaurant then dogs are admitted inside.

Went there last Sunday for the carvey and I must say it was probably one of the nicest roast I have ever eaten. The beef was nice and tender and the selection of veg was good the puddings looked nice but I was way too full from the roast to try them. The beer was pretty good too and you can't beat a nice pint with a roast.

We (me, my girlfriend and 2 children) went to the Nothe Tavern for my birthday recently. It was fantastic!

Yes, it was busy but we got a table. I would rather be somewhere busy as this means that they are doing something right!

The pub is well presented- it is traditional without being old fashioned. There was a wide selection of food at very reasonable prices. As a vegetarian, I was pleased with the choice.

The childrens meals were good value and were of a very good standard. It was actually "proper" food, not the normal rubbish some pubs try and pass off as food.

We had a dessert- the waffles are amazing! There was a very good choice of desserts, at very reasonable prices (the portions are HUGE!)

Overall, I have to say that this is one of the nicest meals I have had. I would definitely suggest a visit and we will definitely be going back. 10/10

Last visited this pub 2 years ago (see comments) Ate in Restaurant on day of arrival (Easter Saturday) Glad we booked in advance and again yesterday. (Again booking recomended). Superb Service, Superb Food and Superb Real Ales. My local Brew is Brakspears and The Nothe had it on as well cheaper @ 2.70 pint. Also large branded scotch for 2.40. New owners since I last visited but has lost none of it reputation. A must visit when in Weymouth. Go to its website for current menu. I liked it so much I drank here every night as was staying in a cottage about 300 yards away.

Very crowded on Sundays, but a very nice place, with excellent views over the harbour and Weymouth. Spotless loos.

Went in on the last Sunday in August - every table taken with people eating Sunday lunch (must admit it looked good too). Beer first rate. Will definitely be coming back.

"Dorsets hidden gem" is written above the bar in this pub, and I fully agree. The staff are warm and welcoming, the food is excellent, the position (overlooking the harbour) is superb. It is only a short distance from the harbour and Brewers Quay but for those who know where it is, it is a great place to go - away from the bustle of the crowds.

Visited in May on a busy Saturday in Wemouth (some festival going on), found the beer to be good, the patio area to be very pleasant (the sun was shining for a change) and the staff very friendly and helpful. A large group of us had turned up at short notice (about 20 including kids) and they set up a table for us no bother. Found the food to be typical "pub" food but OK and certainly very good value.

This pub is on the opposite side of the harbour from the town centre, so it's a nice place to escape the crowds on a busy weekend. To get across the harbour, you can catch "the ferry"....which apparently is a man with a row-boat. A rugged man mind you, so I wouldn't suggest you make any poor double-entendres with him ("so, are you a ferry then sir?"), unless you fancy swimming across.

The Nothe has a fantastic patio area, even though they make Basil Fawlty-esque claims about their sea views (if you look through the narrow gap between two buildings, you can just about see a small section of harbour - potentially up to half a boat's worth). The interior is quite cosy as well, with your typical red carpet/wood panelling & brass pub fittings, all in good nick. I think when I was there they had Bateman's and Ringwood available on the handpull.

The place lacks the history/character of other Weymouth pubs, but if you just want a retreat for a sunny afternoon, it's worth a visit.

Had a meal in here one evening, the polish waiting staff didn't quite have the hang of English .
Food overall was good but the saute potato and the chips were under-cookedapart from that it was O.K. will give a rating of 4 in the hope that it will improve in time.
truckerphil - 13 Jan 2008 19:54
Pleasant enough pub with good patio garden and close to the fort. Food a bit pricey and the Jennings beer reasonable

lout_from_the_lane - 28 Aug 2007 15:09
One of Weymouths top three pubs, civilised, friendly and good beer.
slerpy - 20 Aug 2007 19:30
Had some good pints of Real Ale here, particulary the Cumberland. Food is Excellant, was here many years ago and the standards are the still the same. Friendly atmosphere. The pub has a terraced area out the back with spectatular views. Children are welcome and the Restaurant has a Kids menu. Advisable to book in advance though to ensure you get a table!!

We had excellent meals here the other week-end and would highly recommend it. My third of lamb was delicious! Staff provided friendly and efficient service and everything was well laid out and inviting. Dogs allowed in the public area.
