Recently taken over by the same people who run The Thatched House in Exwick Road. Two handpumps serving Otter Ale and Bombardier, very well kept. The manager told us that he would be getting a third handpump in the new year. No food when we visited (apart from the Sunday Carvery) because the new owners were going to replace the kitchen equipment, again in the new year. If the food is similar to that provided in the Thatched House, I would expect it to be good quality, typical pub fare when they start serving again.
2 pool tables, darts, loads of TV screens showing sports - well worth a visit.

Great pub. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent beer. A real pub by anyone's standards.

I used to live in Newtown and although this pub has a rather depressing feel to it it did have a great carvery and was handy as a pre night out pub with your mates, good for pool too 8/10

A good solid local located in the Newtown area.
Not a hint of students.
Darts & Pool still very popular here.
Nothing special in the provision of Real Ale, but rest of range up to scratch.

Very friendly local pub in the 60s and 70s frequented by students from St Lukes college and young local lads all friends with each other
