Lived in London for five years and this is one of the few places I was was still going back to after all that time. Not that often, probably about once every couple of months, but it remained a regular fixture. Good bar, nice atmosphere and good nights on downstairs.

Only ever been here for Set The Tone, great club but the venue is not the best. Very very hot & a bit like being in a corridor.

Great bar, where they serve very very good cocktails. The staff is always very friendly, and they play good music. Does get busy but worth a try!

Basically, Beer is a decent price at 3 a pint. Music was good enough, not too loud upstairs. Staff seemed pleasant. Fairly cosy booth type seating upstairs. Blokes bogs reeked of ammonia. Downstairs stank of bleach. Upstairs smelt of sick, thank god we got used to it quick. The whole place was pretty grubby. The wooden floors were thick with black dirt. If they sorted out the smells and cleaned the place a little more often, hows about mopping the floor, this place would be pretty decent. A fairly mixed review then!

Loved this place.
2 floors very contrasting. Downstairs dancy type music with dancefloor, upstairs very american type cafe style but with really cool artwork 7 very eclectic type music.

Drinks were cheap for a central London place. Definitly recommend & will be going back there!

Also have lots of music events on.

The best bar in the west end by a million miles. Great music and not too many "mee-ja" types.

Regarding "the upstairs" - I meant the ground level, but up from the dance/music area below.

I didn't even realise there was an upstairs!

I went here a month or so back for a mate's birthday, not really my kind of place but if you want a place where you can have a drink upstairs then slip down for some music then you'll probably enjoy it. There's a bar upstairs with some seating then downstairs a dancefloor and another bar. So good if you like that kind of thing, if you're a "pub person" like me you probably won't be so keen.

Good bar if a little prentious. Actually a lot pretentious, but if you can put up with a few punters who are in love with themselves then you should have a good night.

This is a great weekend bar, always plays interesting music with different DJ's etc on each evening (all playing different styles of music) and a small dancefloor. Tends to get very crowded though and between 9 and 11 it's usually one in one out at weekends. shame that it only opens until 12 too.

Grim. There nothing I can say about this "bar" that would put it in a postitive light.

Love this bar, Been a regular since it opened. One of the only decent places in the west end.Attended the 'thriller' night on a tues the other month, A great selection got played. The acoustic gigs are always a good way to spend a Monday.

totally overrated. Tries to go for 'Good Mixer'-chic whilst being modern at the same time - end result is it seems totally contrived and affected, much like the average drinker there (on my visit, anyway). Also cramped and really hot. Seems to be a place to go and pose, rather than one in which to relax and enjoy.

If you can get a booth upstairs this is definitely the best bar in town. Great Guinness, fantastic juke box and lovely cocktails. One to plan for (I always aim to get here just before half five on a week-day to get a spot). On the weekend (during the day at least) nowhere near as difficult to get a seat.

Oh, and I brought a girl here on a first date once - and next year we're getting married!

Not half bad, heard Irvine Welsh frequents this bar. Any sightings?

excellent music, excellent bouncers, great decor, good drinks, shame it's so damn narrow and always packed. v difficult to move around

Agreed, this is arguably the best bar in London! Great music, good beers, mostly friendly customers. The one near Oxford Circus in London was the first to be opened though!

Probably the best "bar" (as opposed to pub) in London - good atmosphere, good service. Does get rammed, though.

(it's not in Soho, though, north of Oxford Street's Fitzrovia...)

The first branch of this was in Nottingham and it's really nice, so being a Nottingham boy I was obliged to try it out.

It's ok actually, though I have to say, no where near as nice as it's more northerly counterpart. The thing this bar really suffers for is the fact that it's shoe-horned in to a really narrow floor plan which makes it very uncomfortable when busy. Get there early is my advice!

Oh, and an unusual thing. Bouncers with a sense of humour! They were making everyone smile and be happy before they were allowed in last time I went, which I thought was quite amusing and a refreshing change from the usual argument about the colour of your jacket or the state of your trainers!
