user reviews of the Witch, Haywards Heath

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Has undergone an Islington-like refurb since we last went and has the most expensive menu of any Haywards Heath/Lindfield pub - but then it's proper good food cooked from scratch, which should keep the moneyed classes happy.

Need to sort out the unacceptable toilet arrangement though - gents only has a urinal and a notice directing you to the ladies if you need the toilet! The ladies is cheap & tired and they store kiddies highchairs in there! 2 dads were taking their little boys to the loo as the gents was impossible.

We had an excellent meal at The Witch Inn - the staff are very friendly and they all help to create a great atmosphere. Food is served every lunchtime and evening meals are available from Wed to Sat inclusive. All the food is locally sourced and freshly prepared to order.

Posy food and over priced. Lacks atmosphere

Great value food. Beer a bit indifferent and generally lacking in a bit of atmosphere I think. Friendly staff and landlord. Good but not great. As others have said with The Witch and The Stand Up in Lindfield you need nowt else you luck b*gg*rs.

The Witch is doing really good food. It has a large outside area with an area for the kids to play in. There is no longer a pool table.

Visited on 06/06/2007 and enjoyed perfectly kept Harveys. Food is excellent - try the mussels, and soups as starters. Portions are generous and attention is paid to detail.

The pub dates back to the 18th century but the interior is modern - note split levels with the main eating area in the lower, rear section of the pub. Decorated quite tastefully in pale blue (woodwork) and white (walls/ceilings) giving a pleasant light level with subdued lighting. Wooden floors. There is also a snug with a TV in which people were crammed on my visit.

Owned by Gerry Ryan (Rep of Ireland player). All staff very friendly and efficient. This pub features in Camra's GBG, and their recommendation is backed 100%. If I lived in Hayward's Heath it'd be a regular haunt for me alongside the Stand-Up-Inn.

Great place, do visit.

Refurbished in the last year or so to get rid of the old college common room atmosphere. Fantastic food...seriously good so come back, you won't be disappointed

Refurbishment is dire. Still too many idiots in there as well.

Haven't been there for years, used to go there all the time when I worked for Bain Hoggs in HH.

Fondly remember watching England stuff Scotland in Euro 96 & spraying the entire front bar with beer when Gazza scrored.

Say Hi to Jerry.
