Our locally so regular "pie eaters". This is a fantastic pie pub. Always enjoyed the regular menu pie; steak and guiness, steak and kidney, chicken and mushoom but the new additions of chicken, ham hock and mushroom as well as lamb and goats cheese are fantastic. Huge portions, pies stuffed with big chunks of meat, and a great selection of vegetables. Great value for money.

Went to this pub for the first time midday today for a meal with my wife. First impressions, a nicely laid out pub, plenty of character. Couple of local (Westerham) beers and a Timothy Taylor one on tap in the bar we were in.
The menu was a big surprise! Much larger choice of meals than expected for a country pub. Better than many restaurants.
We went for the steak and kidney pudding, mash and veg.
From previous experience of pubs in this area, I expected a tiny pub with little meat. Instant mash and not much veg. What a lovely surprise when the meal came up! Massive puds crammed full of meat. Some of the best home made mash I have tasted and a wide variety of veg, far more than we could eat. For average pub prices this was a feast indeed.
I had a pint if Westerham British Bulldog. Without a doubt, best pint I have had in west Kent!
I was a little dubious of trying this pub, but am very glad I did. Certainly we will be going back again. I do not know about night time, but, apart from one person with a mobile, which you get everywhere now, it was a nice quiet environment with plesant piped music. Top rating from me.

We went to this pub on Friday evening and had a great time, what a lovely country pub, the main bar was busy so we went to the other bar/restaurant and sat by an open fire. The bar staff were very friendly - and we just pointed to out drinks and the lady brought them over, we ordered some food which was piled onto the plate and tasted great and a good price too.
They had a live band on which was nice to listen too and the pub had a great atmosphere, even though its a locals pub we did not feel made unwelcome as we walked in like some locals pubs.
Will be going back there again.

Very cosy little pub that I throughly enjoyed a brief visit.
Biggin Hill always seems like an historical spot to stop off at and its not got a lot of pubs in the area but thsi one does seem to be making an effort.
Works well on a crisp early Autumn evening

Great pub run by a landlord that seems to have really endeared himself to the locals with his amazing memory for facts and good humour. Its in such a pretty spot too with a huge garden.

Great Real ales Like Black Sheep and Harveys the Food and atmosphere are all fabulous.

The have some excellent bands on as well well worth a visit.

I know the new owners of this now family run pub and since taking over in late September '10 they have certainly turned the place around and it is well worth a visit! The pub is has been completely redecorated and has 2 log fires constantly going, there is a cosy 'living room' area at the front out the pub and also a small restaurant type area at the rear.
There is an ever-changing menu displayed throughout the pub on chalkboards and the food is superb, they promote this pub as a 'pub that serves food not a restaurant'. Sunday lunches are v.reasonably priced @ 7.95 and the place is always busy therefore, probably best to ring and book a table to avoid disappointment. They do all types of private functions: wakes, birthdays, wedding breakfast/buffets, ring to find out!
There is a large garden area at the rear which includes a play area for children and in the Summer they have big plans for an outside bar/barbeque for a real family day out!
All you dog walkers are welcome to bring your dogs (front bar only) and children are also welcome. There is still some refining to do but you can certainly see John (the landlord) is certainly doing everything possible to make sure you visit is enjoyable and you will return! And they have regular live bands! They also have a Facebook page.

Had a great evening there last night. The new owners have really made an effort with the decor. Food was good, menu is about to be re vamped though & sounds delicious....really friendly staff with a great atmosphere. Will definitely be back!!!

Popped in there last night as the place has just reopened. The new chap John has cleaned the place up a treat (I used to wash my hands when I left there before) and seems to be full of ideas to bring the place alive again. This was always my prefered drinking hole in Biggin Hill and it looks like I'll be returning again, I hope he can turn the place around, it deserves it ,its a lovely pub.

This pub is currently closed and the landlady has absconded.
Apparently a couple who'd booked a hogroast for a Christening Party were informed on the day via text that the pub was now closed.
Big news in Biggin Hill... shame on the Pub owners.

Nice pint of Spitfire, great steak. Food really good !!
supaken - 5 Feb 2010 20:26
The beer has always run out - I mean always, I challenge you to go in there and be able to choose a cask ale that's on - and because they don't sell much (it's three quid a pint) the quality is poor.

Yep ref the other comment on locals. They're right arrogant idiots.

Went there the other evening to see a Jazz Band play, which was fantastic, sat back on the sofa with my girl friend and had a pint of Peroni off tap (and you know its a good pub when its on draught). Had a great atmosphere unlike some pubs you just feel awkward. There was a few people at the back having a hog roast, bit cheeky i know though i had to try some and it was fantastic. will deffinatly go there again. highly recomended

Although this Pub has changed hands, you are still likely to feel like an intruder. A few 'locals' always sit in the curve of the bar making it awkward to get served without putting yourself in the middle of their conversation.

The beers (Shepherd Neame "Spitfire" and Fullers "Pride" are good, but the music is too loud and you may well feel like an intruder at a private party.

This pub has been taken over by new tenants in recent months. New tenants of new owners at that. And things have changed. The old reviews below were all correct but a lot of effort has been made to improve matters, and it's working. I live nearby and I've seen the ups and downs (mainly downs) of recent years, but it's a place I like visiting again. Spitfire and London Pride on tap, plus lager if you must, and decent food too. It's getting cold now but come spring you might like the pleasant beer garden at the back. Meanwhile you can sit in the bar and read newspapers or books about Biggin Hill airfield, including one on how to maintain your Hurricane fighter. It's not horribly themed, I hasten to add, but it has posters and photos of the local RAF history. If you were put off before, try The King's Arms again.

Seems to have changed hands yet again, 'To Let' sign gone......So has the appalling "Crazy Golf".Sadly, still full of 'bottled' blondes and 'well 'ard geezers'!
almost_an_old_git - 11 Jun 2008 15:14
I believe this pub to be shut now. At least I drove past the other day and saw a 'To Let' sign there.
HHGTTG - 9 Mar 2008 16:46
Went past over the weekend. Big sign outside advertising their very own 9 hole 'crazy' golf 'course'............WOW I thought and kept on going !!!

Used the loo here late last year (I did ask first- Honest). Would agree with the comments below though - looked like the customers were keen on Ratners and sun beds.

However, nice smile from the lady behind the bar and clean (before and after) loo's.

Would give it a try if I was passing.

The home of large bull-necked, shaven-headed,tattoo covered people; dripping with gold chains and earings. Standing near the bar talking loudly in "Sarf East London" accents whilst their hideous offspring either chase around the public areas or sleep on the bench seating (time of day dependant. When sporting events are being shown most of the afforementioned seem to be related to the players with shouts of "Cammon moy San!" this is, on international days, punctuated by shouts of "Engerlan".
Their lady partners compare fake tans and how close to the 'ideal' shade of orange they can get.
Beer is kept in good condition and the staff are most co-operative given their customer base!
So, avoid early afternoons, late afternoons, early evenings and late evenings. 9.15 on a tuesday evening is good!
Finally, watch out for the spelling mistake on the road-side sign advertises the new "seperate" restaurant"
PS strangely all women in there, apart from the staff, seem to be blonde. "Bottled" perhaps?
