Bambi (camper van) to Graffham - tummies rumbling - we decided to pop into the local pub - The Foresters Arms - Delicious Sunday Lunch - simple menu of Roast Beef, Roast Lamb or Vegetarian Lasagne - great wine selection - beautiful Malbec. Local Langhams bitter was very easy ! Lovely owners and staff - very attentive. Charming and unspoilt interior. We made the most of the sun trapped garden (dogs in tow - who were also made to feel welcome with biscuits). Have to say this rates really highly - I don't normally give full marks for anything but The Foresters Arms might just squeeze a 10/10 from me! (Afterwards shopped in locals' run Graffham village shop for provisions - what a fab enterprise!)

Lovely building in the village centre.More a restraunt than pub.

In many ways more a restaurant than a pub but a splendid interior. There is a good selection of real ales including Dark Star Hophead, Harveys Bitter and a beer from Langhams. Busy on a Saturday night and our party all thought the main courses were good although the vegetarian option was said to be a small portion.

I stopped at this pub for lunch today.
I would not recommend this pub for walkers looking for a traditional pub lunch!
They are an upmarket overpriced establishment. A smallish baguette will cost you nearly 7.00 and a very small plate of 'chunky' chips, which were not chunky, will cost you 2.25. That worked out at around 10p per chip!. The pint of beer that I also had was slightly cloudy although just about drinkable.

Great pub. Good food. Good drink. Good management. James and Sarah are doing a wonderful job. Check it out. Jazz night once a month. Book early. Open 7 days a week now.

Great pub, lots of character with large open fire. Combines a friendly place for a pint with a good place for a meal out. As others say - deserves to be busier but it is a bit off the beaten track in Graffham. Friendly locals and bar staff make you feel welcome.

Stayed last saturday night and had dinner. Food and beer/wine excellent. What a relief as the place was rather empty. Don't know why the locals were shy but we had a pleasant stay. Breakfast was enormous. Had our pooch with us in the room and we were made to feel very welcome.

Recommended especially if you require 'Dog friendly' accommodation.

Had dinner here twice during a stay in the area; all the meals we had were very good indeed and they had three ales on the go (Sharp's Doombar, T Taylors Landlord and a local one: TEA). Apparently the landlords have only been here for a year - they seem to be doing everything right in my opinion though and it deserved to be busier than it was when we went.

Had lunch at the Forresters yesterday - the meal was superb, both in taste and quantity, and was excellent value for money. My husband is still going on about the stuning lamb and mint pie....

Driving through West Sussex I came across The Foresters Arms and received a warm welcome from the staff. The pub had only recently re-opened and was very suprised at the selection of real ales, and extensive menus, which incuded a credit crunch menu that was on offer. The food was amazing, starting with a starter of home made crab cakes, followed by Scallops off the Chef's specials board, completed off with the chef's homemade bread and butter pudding which was to die for. I was taken back by the presentation: (Jamie Oliver eat your heart out!!), the taste and flavour of the food far exceeded some of the top London restaurants that I have dined in, all of which were far cheaper and very good value for money. I was also surprised at the extensive wine list all of which were of a high quality and very reasonably priced. This is definately a pub not too be missed!! I was that impressed that I decided to stay in one of their letting rooms and make a weekend of it. The room was superbly fitted out, with very comfy bed, powerful hot shower, and breakfast consisted of cereals, fruit juices and a full english breakfast all of which i could have at whatever time suited. I would say that there is room for improvement as there was not any room service and the breakfast supply was enormous and could have set me up for the day and night..

We really liked this pub. We were staying at the campsite about 0.5 miles away, and went there for dinner on the Friday night. Staff were very helpful and we have some good ale, and chose the 'credit crunch' menu which was two courses for something like 11 pounds or 3 for 15. The food was fantastic, and we liked it so much we went back for another similarly good meal on the Sat night.

A pleasant enough pub with a limited menu. The chef could do with taking lessons on what constitutes rare, medium and well done. In his book medium was burnt. Complaints go unheeded. Not a venue to return to.

Please disregard my previous review it was meant for The White Horse at Graffham.
The Foresters gets better with excellent food & gradually more locals returning.

This pub is just getting better by the week. Strongly recommend Skinners Betty Stogs!

Called in there recently and found the beer good. New owners this summer, very friendly working very hard to produce good locally sourced fresh food.

Our friends stayed in the letting rooms and were very pleased. They are very near to Goodwood House, Race Track and Cowdray Park Polo centre.

Nice location and interior. Food is pleasant but over-priced. So were some of the bar drinks (1 for a half of soda water?!). The beer was a bit dodgy on our visit too. So, all in all, a bit disappointing.

The new owners are really trying hard, food was impressive, they are using as much local produce as they can aquire, the beer was wonderful, Youngs , White Star, and Kings Brewery, all on good form, well done to you both,, Ysanne And Peter Legg

We went on the basis of previous recommendations and were not disappointed. We found it quiet, with nice beer, strong beer (!), good food and modern, clean, en suite rooms if you stay overnight. The Downs are 10 minutes walk away. Good luck to the new management.

Lovely old pub with delicious food and good beer and wines. Relaxed atmosphere, very child and dog friendly. Great to go to after a good walk in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Reccommend it to all your friends.

New owners are really trying to make a go of this pub - mind you the Ballard's Pom's Revenge (yer a vicious man Fran !)- is an acquired taste at 9.2% ! Good food and plenty of it, excellent back garden for the summer months !
trikemaniac - 15 Feb 2006 12:48
A lovely traditional English pub nestling in the shadow of the south downs - roaring fires in the winter and a garden which I am sure would be lovely in the summer. Recently under new ownership/management, they have a small but interesting selection of real ales, nice wines and a reasuringly small but delicious menu of traditional country food. The staff are friendly, as too are the locals. It is a bit off the beaten track, but well worth the detour!
