The poster of the last comment should be wel pleased then, as pub has shut permanently and being redeveloped as a Tesco Express. There used to be 4 pubs on this road and now there are none.

This pub has been an utter dive for years. So please to see it is now boarded up, Their 'Last pub before Kempton Park' sign was a blatant lie, and no doubt dubious business practices like this contributed to the downfall.
|
Pub now boarded up with attractive heavy duty metal sheeting. Looks like the Black Dog has served its last pint and will soon be doing its bit to combat the housing shortage.

@lisa2 20 December 2009...you were lucky.
Recently at this pub, was full of underage drinkers and a teenage pregnant woman twisted on beer related? to the Landlord also twisted drunk. Child of about 3 running around pub till midnight as were the three staffy dogs. Tables filthy and sticky and had takaway food all over them. Barmaid in her pajamas and slippers...would never go back.

A hot day in the pub desert. Friendly service but I'd need to be very thirsty to go back! I was disappointed to find only the various temperatures of Guinness, some lagers and a nitro-keg. I had a well poured Guinness and unhitched the camels...
|
Can only confirm the below. This time there were 3 dogs roaming around, one jumped up on the bar stool next to me and my mate. Babies in nappies walking round eating pizza. Thought Bob Geldof was gonna come in to highlight the desparate plight of this filth-ridden dump.
|
Gruesome. 2 pit bulls and a collie roam this pub, which no longer serves food despite the copious signboarding proclaiming the contrary. To see a horrendous caricature of a pub, come here and tick all the boxes: scary locals, druggies and losers, scary bar staff and .... well, it's just scary. Not nice.

I heard a rumour that the 'Black Dog' is going to be put down...!! Any truth in that..? TJ

Very decent boozer, I agree with PJ and Mr Mason below and it definately is the best pub in the area I have to say also its a lot better with the refurb. Also sells a mean pint of guinness.

THIS PUB AT LONG LAST SEEMS TO HAVE FALLEN INTO THE RIGHT HANDS.I USED TO POP IN OCCASIONALLY UNDER DURESS BUT IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE BEEN SUGGESTING IT TO FRIENDS.IT HAS APPARENTLY COME UNDER IRISH OWNERSHIP AND AS YOU WOULD EXPECT ,THE BEER ,FOOD AND CLIENTEL HAVE ALL IMPROVED,NO END.NICE FRIENDLY COUPLE MANAGING IT.

since been repainted a horrible orange colour and has started doing a thai menu which is a shame as the nice sofas have gone... i'd rather have sausage and mash than thai food on a sunday lunchtime :-(

Always been a good pub, much better before this stupid refurbishment job with the sad old cartoon dog. Loved it more when my great auntie owned it - bearing in mind i was very young then!
