Called in here for refreshing pint on cycle ride to Frome. Butcombe & Doom Bar were on offer as were a few ciders. The Butcombe was top notch, good condition and temperature. The pub was reasonably busy for a Monday lunchtime with mostly locals in residence. The food - only had time for BLT, was good and served quickly with a variety of breads offered. Bar staff were quick to serve an welcoming.
Quite a big pub inside with various nooks & crannies, could probably do with a bit of updating to make a dedicated dining area perhaps and it would be good to try to make more use of courtyard area which was had kitchen equipment on various tables. Outside seating area on quiet country road is OK but could possibly do with a couple of flower planters to brighten it up and make it separate from the road?
Pleasant enough local pub and would be happy to call in again anytime.

A fantastic, unspoilt country pub in the middle of an attractive village. Clientele seems to be pretty much all locals who knew each other, but this is only to be expected in such an out of the way location, and they all seemed friendly enough.
It�s a single room, U-shape bar with old wooden boards on the floor, some painted plasterwork and exposed stone walls elsewhere, plenty of horse brasses, plates, etc., and several black and white pictures of the pub and village from years ago. There was a big stone fireplace at one end, a wood panelled bar and several specimens of stuffed birds and animal heads.
We didn�t try the food on this occasion, but there was a reasonable looking specials list chalked up on a board. On a recent Friday evening visit, the main attraction was what I can only describe as a mad organ player. Even the friendly landlady warned us about him before we went in! He was an old guy, playing tunes on an old electronic organ, extremely badly and out of tune, and with various different instruments selected. The punters all seemed to enjoy trying to guess what he was playing though, and singing along once they had worked it out. All in all, a great atmosphere and clearly the social hub of the village.
Beers on tap were London Pride, Butcombe, Doom Bar and Titania Golden Ale, which I�ve not come across before. Ciders were also well represented with Blackthorn, Thatcher�s Gold and Cheddar Valley.

Much better these days, The beer is good (Butcombe and London Pride) plus a Guest. Various Lagers and Ciders , including that Somerset favorite Cheddar Valley (Thatchers).
Very popular for food so can get very buzy. Ploughmans lunch's are a speciality of the house.
Outside seating at the front but no garden. Dogs ok inside.
Tuesday nights at 6.00 is a good time to go , full of nutters.

Nice country pub, feels very much like a locals place, it hasn't been gastro'd yet. The beer's perfectly fine. Maybe not a destination pub, but worth popping in if you're passing.

Nice pub with friendly welcome. Food was ok, although the gravy tasted like it was 99% salt and the veg wasnt brilliant. Nice beer and nice village setting.
