A large pub with plenty of parking. It is a large spacious lounge with good quality comfortable furniture. The bar is at the far end and has 2 real ales on the bar. The far left of the lounge is laid out for the sale of food. The pub is a bit lacking in character and souless. There is an outside patio area around the edge of the pub. There is spotless toilets.

Visited last night and food good as usual but pricey as usual (5 for half a bowl of minestrone soup) unlike our previous experiences the service though was chaotic, everyone running around but getting nothing right. We were offered other people's starters, main courses and bowls of chips here and there!! Our choice of wine not available so selected another which took 20 minutes to arrive. When asking for the bill we had been charged for both! gave back to the waitress who said it would be changed, we were then handed back a bill of double the price for another table! hubby had steam coming out of his ears at this point and the Manageress couldn't be bothered to deal with it as too busy, given right bill in the end but service so appalling we left no tip. Some things are so right, selection of beers and wine and food quality but all so miserably let down by poorly trained staff, the management need to pull their socks up.

Friendly efficient staff on my last visit. Beer was good, but expensive. Nice food but limited choice for set meals. Major dissapointment was the cost of a splash of soda with my wifes wine - 1:35. When I questioned this expensive drop of water, staff seemed uninterested, said it was just policy etc... So I was invited to make a comment on there web site. They seemed just as uninterested and never bothered to respond. I'll probably be using the other pubs down the road in the future! Shame really as I used to like the pub.

I have been going to this pub for a few years now, but I must admit in the last couple of years, the service has declined. The staff forget about you, and appear uninterested. The prices are quite expensive, and would think twice about going there. The service was so bad tonight, I paid for a drink but refused to stay there any longer, there was no apology for poor service and they did not even attempt to keep you there, so another pub down the road did us proud, was far superior in every aspect....will be my local now, not the Blue Anchor!

The best thing about the Blue Anchor is the car park its always empty - (doesn't that tell you something) - use it when the Dukes Head car park is full and walk 100yds back..... This is a complete disaster of a pub. If you want a real pub there are plenty around, if you want gastro try the Grumpy Mole. What bemuses me is that the Arkle Manor is under the same ownership and is warm and friendly everything the Blue Anchor used to be.

Still M&B. It's never stopped being M&B, just refurbished into their latest unbranded brand.

The Blue Anchor is back up to the standard that it was when initially refurbished by other owners 2-3 years ago. We stopped going after a disasterous meal we had about 2 years ago but now it has been taken over by (is it M&B as people keep quoting, never says on menus etc!) all I know is that it is the same chain as The Arkle Manor, Derby Arms etc and menu virtually exactly the same. As with all these gastropub types drinks very pricey and food likewise. We have visited several times and found food and service very good including that of the bar staff.

Erm.. I am not "staff" nor do I work for "M and B".... I happen to live in the road behind the Blue Anchor and it wasnt a great place and now it is.. why be so negative? I gave a good review as it deserved it.. I assume you work in a local pub and are annoyed by the new competition....?? I notice you only have one comment on here, so dont judge me for not having loads - I actually have 2 comments! Check out the Sportsman review I gave! P.S You are one miserable git!

Wow, Local_Lass. You only popped out for a quick bite to eat and yet you had wine and cocktails with your shared starters.
Good luck to the new 'team'? Sounds ever so 'M and B'!
I think somebody didn't say 'staff' because someone IS 'staff'.
Also strange how it's the only review you've done, and signed up especially for it. You would say it's great. You work there.

I went to the Blue Anchor last night for a quick bite to eat and to check out the re-furb. My friend and I weren't hugely hungry so we decided to share a few starters instead of a main meal. The food was outstanding, the wine was delicious, the cocktails were fab and the service was fantastic. It is much brighter and more modern inside, some local pubs have been re-furbished and ruined but I believe on this occasion it has worked well. I will be going back! Well done and good luck to the new team.

I think this is the best option in Tadworth, although the decor may not be to the taste of those who prefer pubs to have a 'lived-in' look. Landlord and London Pride on offer - well kept too.

First time here for Sunday Lunch. Good selection but pricey. I had a very nice Shoulder of Lamb but my Mothers meal could have been hotter. Very good service. Why do they have to have the music at disco level? Will stick to mid week in future.

Visited this pub a few times now and have not been disappointed, quality food and service.
Recommended and best in the area.

i think they have made this "pub" into something that its not, i mean the food is expensive, more restraunt like.... its a pub!!!

Visited two nights running recently as the food & service were great can't reccomend their restaurant more highly.I agree it's not really a pub any more but it does have roaring log fires & there is a nice comfy seating area with leather chesterfields!

London came to Tadworth this weekend!
What a great pub! The best tasting pub lunch I have ever had and probably the best steak I will ever eat! Very quick service and friendly staff. Interior design is beautiful and classy.
Food is reasonably priced and worth every penny. They sure do know how to pour a Guiness too!
If you want a beer and a packet of pork scratching surrounded by chavs and farm yard nostalgia then don't even bother looking here! If you want a chilled out atmosphere, meals to die for and beautiful surroundings then the Blue Anchor will be your idea of pub heaven!

Yet another generic chain pub

Certainly a huge change. Appressive decor and staff that served me appeared un-interested and almost dissappointed as i approached the bar. Used to take my elderly mother there for lunch on a sunday but now it has changed i wouldn't even take my dog. A friend told me the food is good but they have tried to bring London to Tadworth and it just doesn't work. I know a good interior designer...

Used to be an interesting pub with the business community in one bar and the bikers in the other. Went in there on a soaking winter night a few months ago and found a bevy of waitress waiting to escort me to a table.

To my mind not really a pub any more, just an eating place.

Bears all the symptoms of being a Vintage Inn without advertising it as such - maybe M&B are doing a bit of unbranding. Anyway usual fakery like four different types of chair, one of each round each table, mediocre food and drink. The Dukes Head is much better.
