A jolly nice pub. Nicely furbished bar, with big open fire, and restaurant area. Doom Bar in good order, Landlord and Forty-Niner also available. Food good too, (Liver and bacon and banoffee pie).

A welcome stop-off during a hefty rainstorm a few weekends back. The beer was OK, just that. Alton's beers are normally lovely, this one was passable. I preferred the St Bernard dog propping up the bar with his/her owners, to be honest. The pub is in a lucrative spot, right near footpaths etc so a guest beer/bottled beer might put this place back on the 'ale trail'. Otherwise, pleasant enough, just now a 'wow'.

Getting a really good reputation as a top class eatery and decent pub. I can vouch that both is true!

Took a ride over on a lovely Sunday afternoon. They had Alton Pride, Ringwood 49er and Doom Bar on tap. Tried the Pride and 49er - both in excellent condition; the Pride was the best I've had.

Plenty of charachter and a really good kids play area (fenced in, big trampoline, wooden play house. Loads of space - enough to kick a ball round in!

Lots of people enjoying the sunshine (some were even sunbathing!) Plenty of outside seating. Can also imagine this pub being really cosy in the winter as its a 'proper' pub.

Shame I'm about 4 miles away so can make it my local.

Probably one of the best, if not the best country pub ive been to. I lovely bustled atmosphere, smiling staff, very helpful and my pint of hobgoblin was beautiful, my partner in crime had the Fortininer which was equally pleasant. The food was the icing on the cake of our visit. We tried the house burger which claims to be Britains best burger (and there probably not far wrong). We also tried the ale pie, it was succulent, delicious and clearly homemade. Both food & drink is equally good value for money, they seem to have a great deal lunchtimes which made our food extremely cheap. A must visit venue

More than 6 months with the "new" management and the standards are high atmosphere welcoming, good menu and well kept limited selection of real ales but as I was told by the staff "its Punch beer and prices" However it's a small price to pay to see this lovely pub so greatly improved and it would seem thriving.

Having been put off by the previous landlady i was pleasently suprised by the long awaited return of somebody who knows what the pub trade is all about. All staff are very nice, the beer is back to drinkable and the food is very good.I wish the pub every success in the future. amdrinker

I took my family out to this pub for a meal simply because outwardly it looked kid friendly. Unfortunately things took a turn for the worse as, i assume it was the landlady (she seemed ample in years) confronted us in an unpleasant manner. I was so taken aback by her attitude i have wrote a letter of complaint to both the pub and brewery asking for an apology on behalf of my family.
As you can imagine we did not stay long enough to sample the food or drink although since the incident i have been told of bad experiences by a number of peers and personal friends.

I went in this pub for a pub lunch with the Mrs after a long walk, the beer was nice and service for drinks very good.
The skin head guy behind the bar seemed ok but took about 50 years to serve us our food, people who arrived after us got served way before us and then when we enquired he apologised for the delay and said it was being heated up!!! We got 2 refunds and left very hacked off and he appeared confused. Do not eat in this pub, other people were there at the same time were complaining about the quality of the food. Bad food pub, ok for relaxing drinks.

Not yet a great pub, but the best that Liss has to offer. Decent beer (Ringwoods), standard pub grub, smokey. Big garden with plenty of children's entertainment and and a deck out front which is a treat in the summer, blazing fire inside for the winter. This should be a great pub, but still has a way to go. Under new ownership, worth watching.
