The change of hands didn't work im guessing. This pub is now CLOSED and up for lease by enterprise inns.

THIS PUB HAS CHANGED HANDS SINCE THE LAST COMMENTS WERE MADE, IT IS NOW A REALLY NICE PLACE TO GO AND HAVE A DRINK AND A MEAL, THE BEER IS GOOD AND THE FOOD IS NOW OUTSTANDING, I WOULD CHOOSE THIS PUB OVER ANY IN THE SURROUNDING AREA, GIVE IT A TRY ITS WELL WORTH IT!

Over priced beer, food is pretty damned unedible, Djs pretty apalling and pets roaming all over the place, id give this one a miss.

Not too bad - they do try with pool table, fag machine, cash machine, large restaurent and the usual Hungry Horse type grub. Ross the landlady is nice, as are most of the staff, attracts a lot of builders (wouldn't take the missus there for a night out or a meal becuase of the punters attitudes) but cetainly not the worst pub in Colchester by a long shot bearing in mind its location (Shrub End!).
Have spent many an hour in there over the years so it can't be that bad.
