Just a comment or 2 about the food
We had organised a works xmas party here. The place looked ok bar staff friendlyish, manager well now thats another matter.
The food order was messed up from the start (after pre-booking and mailing details) On a christmas dinner plate i would be expecting to see all the favorites i didnts however see carrots or sprouts.I did see half a pig in no blanket, the plate next to mine had the other half. there was a miniscule spud or 2 hiding next to the kale. The gravy/sauce was in fact cranberry juice from a carton!!. You couldnt hammer any silver coins in the xmas pud as it just wasnt big enough.
Go at your peril

Beer seems very good and the food was still as good as I can remember. Not sure what the beer cost as I wan't picking up the tab : )

The pub still seems very smart and staff were very friendly.

Nice clean pint of IPA. Large beer garden and helpful landlord who came to the rescue of our overheating dog with a bowl of cold water, even before we had asked. We and the dog were grateful for our drinks on a hot day.

Beer good apart from Speckled Hen was off when tried. Had a guest and IPA and Abbott. Food selection very good with generous portions of what seem quite goiod quality food. Staff friendly and good pub atmousphere.

Prices are a bit high but worth it.

Kind of agree with last comment, food was not up to much, and yes it was smokey, bar staff seem to smoke on duty as well, don't like that.

Used to go here for lunch when I worked at ICL in Stevenage, so it's been about 8 years since my last visit. The place looks pretty much the same, not sure if it has been done up or not, looks pretty tatty, food was plastic and it was rather smokey. Don't think I'll be going back.
