please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This is the worst pub I ever been to, and I like pretty much every kind of pub going.

The décor is terrible, neither traditional pub nor bar, just depressing. The beer was awful! Neither of us finished ours and that has to be a first. And the service was really unfriendly.

It’s is such a waste, it is in a great location and could be a great pub.

Literally the worst pub I’ve ever been to.

More like a bar than a pub, dodgy lighting, a lot of lager taps along the bar but no real ale. I ask why not. "It didn't sell," the busty barmaid tells me. This is a surprise to me as it sells everywhere else. These days with all this recession, there is no excuse for alienating a large proportion of your potential customer base. Despite Sally's fine karaoke - refuging down the road from the Hog in the Pound - I don't think I'll be back.

fantastic refurb! a million times better than the old white hart. Had the food last week, there is a thai kitchen there and it is top notch, highly reccommended. will most definately be back. Had a chat with the manageress Steph who is very pleasant, she suggested we came back on Friday for live music which we may just do, being pay day!!

We have been going to the Hart for a long, long, time. The refurb' and new staff are both good and it's starting to get the good atmos' that the crazy Landlord, 'H', had. Just hope it stays that way.

Went here for the first time last weekend. Seemed like a nice place. Had a pleasant pint and the thai food being served at other tables looked and smelled very good. Everybody seemed very dressed up for a local pub - maybe I stumbled into private party by mistake? The only drawback was that there seemed to be only 1 girl behind the bar, who was good but struggling to serve all the customers.

Will definately return to try the food soon.

When some Saffa ran it a few years back it was top notch. Then an English guy called 'H' was just as good and friendly...loads of punters. Then the wicked witch moved in, the place died a death!! I see they are open after refurb, havent been in for a drink but looks a bit strange, dark on the outside and clinically bright on the inside. Why oh why did they keep the fruit machines and the pool table? Chav magnets!!
FreeWilly - 12 Jun 2007 08:59
Just to be pedantic for a second, this pub is not and never has been in Wimbledon. It is in Merton Park.Used to go there in the late seventies and drink - whisper it -Trophy Bitter!
Ordinary - 23 May 2007 21:49
Can't wait to see what the new team have done to this pub. Let's face it, anything will be an improvement. The new people are locals so they should know what the punters want. Good Luck to Steph and her crew!

It's still closed and being refurbished! The White Hart signs have been taken down and the external walls are being painted black. Can't see anything inside as the windows are covered up. The plot thickens....
Roodeye - 4 May 2007 13:42
Closed for refurbishment when I went past there on Tuesday. It doesn't seem all that long since it was done up before. Fine if you want TV footie and pool. Wonder what it will be like after refurb?

I no longer live locally to Wimbledon but I do have fond memories of the Sunday night pub quiz in the winter of 2004. It was a spot on way to end the weekend and I, like morrissey, was also done with the old three envelope trick. the Sunday night staff were very apporachable, friendly and helpful but it was the overall atmosphere that was good. The young chubby lad who did the quiz used to have me in stitches and didn't take any crap or heckling from anyone without very much giving them a public slating!
It was a shame when the three young people who did that night moved on but i'm sure thery're doing much greater things these days. if they do read this then thanks very much to you and best of luck in the future.

Myself and Zac came here for the pub quiz in 2005, we didn't think our two-man team stood much chance of victory against the regulars but we decided to give it a shot. 4-5 exceedingly easy rounds of questioning later.. and we were in joint 1st place with a team of 10, a playoff...

One member of each team; me from ours and Jimmy Nail from theirs came to the bar. We were poured a pint of Stella and told to down it before providing an answer to the quetion: 'How many Batman films are there?'. The capacity packed pub. I necked the pint well ahead of Lurch and gave the correct answer of '5'. The quizmaster said "You're right!" but before he could award victory he was drowned out by chants of "Spillage!" and "Oi, you spilt it you cnut!" - The quizmaster knew I hadn't spilled a drop but he still offered the answer to Jeff Capes. Given the choice of upsetting two sober outsiders or upsetting 100 brainless regulars, I'd have done the same.

Meanwhile, Ultimate Warrior next to me finally finished his pint and was given the opportunity to win the quiz for Team Social Security. (Bear in mind I'd said '5' and been told that it was the right answer.) What does he say? '7'. The quizmaster reluctantly handed the question back to me and I repeated '5' which won us the quiz. I was given three envelopes: 1 had 200 in it, 1 had 2 bottles of wine and the final one had a tin of tuna. A deafening chant of 'Tuna!' proceeded before I picked out the envelope with the bottles of wine. Zac put one under each arm and we left out the back door heading straight for the safety of Dundonald Park.

Has really gone down hill since the old manager left in November. The new managers are rude to customers and the tables constantly have used glasses and full ashtrays left on them. Only 1 member of the old staff left. Give this place a miss.
anonymous - 22 Feb 2006 12:47
bands and djs are back on friday nights - most of them are pretty good. better quality food on new menu.
claman - 28 Jun 2005 12:34
All in all a good pub with friendly staff and a good laid back atmosphere
jamesbow - 24 Feb 2005 14:16
The beer has certainly improved since the new manager has taken over and the place is a lot cleaner.

The Real Ales are a welcome addition although they've only got IPA for the moment.

I hear it's due for a lick of paint and some repairs and a new food menu is on the cards.

It's definitly on the up - bring on the summer!
Zulq - 24 Feb 2005 13:52
Come back 'H', all is forgiven !!
ritmic - 17 Feb 2005 11:18
OK place for a quick beer, nice enough without being anything special.
Venom - 2 Jan 2005 23:20
Truley dire. Avoid. Unless you like pool tables, Channel 4 with no sound and locals who clearly have no idear of the concept of "Get A Room" that is.
anonymous - 22 Nov 2004 17:42
Sorry but the place is full of Chavs in dirty working cloths. The regulars have an IQ of 120 (ie all 120 regulars put together !!) And don't get me started on the pretentious students....
Tom - 2 Oct 2004 12:37
thursday is pound night and yeah students go there but not art students... so go if you want cheap drinks... it has a pool table which is decent enough... i agree its not amazing but its near a tram stop and all my friends.. its there local... i wouldn't go other wise.. beer on normal nights is a bit expensive but beats weatherspoons hands down over atmosphere... now that is a student pub!
lotty - [email protected] - 16 Sep 2004 11:34
We have always found ALL the staff very efficient and friendly; but (I) agree with the comment about Brooke (Who was Australian BTW). Its not so much a financial burden with the extra 5p for Guinness, its having to fiddle about with those tiny useless bits of coinage of the realm !!
ritmic - 1 Dec 2003 10:11
Avoid Thursdays when it becomes full of art students, who do nothing but act like they are teenagers (which they are).
Food tastes as good as it costs (cheap), beer is moderate. Good pub if you live within 50 metres and dont fancy walking any further. Also good for suicides.
David - 27 Nov 2003 13:04
Only been during the day and it seems pleasnt enough. Good deals, funky decor with a mixed bunch of people.Nothing special, but a decent enough pub.
Marie - 3 Nov 2003 16:48
Great place to eat when you've been out of the loop for a while.
David Blaine - 21 Oct 2003 10:10
Used to be local hang out as had brilliant landlord/staff but has changed hands recently and don't think much of it anymore, doesn't seem as relaxed as it used to - pity seeing as it's on our doorstep...
Milly - 16 Oct 2003 22:11
The pool table is a wicked idea. There isn't one anywhere else locally! Pub is brill, bar staff cool. Cheers for a wicked function the other week. Ta
John - 15 Oct 2003 10:18
Oh no ! The pool table is back. No wait, I've got an idea; let's change the name of the pub to Bodhran Barneys !!
Tom - 14 Oct 2003 12:34
Only been once, and with a very friendly bit of advice from the bar staff, emptied the fruity of a nice 50. Will be coming back!!
tim - 23 Sep 2003 13:40
A lot of the detritus below looks like it's been put in by people who have too much time on their hands... This place is a sountry mile better than it was - the seating layout's a bit of a disaster admittedly - but other than that it's a good place to be. Diligent on football coverage, but equally as good (if the footies not on) at catering for families etc...
BlainaBoy - 17 Sep 2003 13:28
The KWV wine deal is good. How about a B.O.G.O.F. deal on the Extra Cold Guinness ? It would get my vote!! Notwithstanding, a good pub with good bar staff. (and the manager doesn't shout - he's just got a powerful voice !!)
ritmic - 12 Aug 2003 12:25
The new manager is an idiot (as stated by other people above). He shuts the place at will if it's not busy enough (even at 10.30pm on a Saturday having said it would be open until 10.30). Would be a lot better without him. Avoid if possible
Howard - 2 Aug 2003 14:37
The pub is now under new management, and despite the loud manager there is an excellent assistant manager, very friendly and warm. This pub should be hopefully improving. New furniture outside and cleaner on the inside
Pete - 20 Jul 2003 18:29
So, Jane, you too have spotted the rapid increase in the number of builders using what was once a smart pub. I've stopped going to this sh*t hole.
Tom - 27 Jun 2003 15:08
Dress code strictly paint splashed jeans and dirty boots. A pig ignorant attitude is also desirable.
Jane - 26 Jun 2003 15:03
Cheap pitchers of beer is attracting the plebes and white van man. Furniture looking really shabby due to builders filthy clothes and people putting their feet on the seats. And why does the new manager shout all the time ?
Tom - 19 Jun 2003 16:32
Bad day at the office; oh anonymous one of 13th Feb ? In our long drinking career we have never met nicer, more friendly bar staff.
ritmic - 21 Feb 2003 16:49
Terrible pub, music too loud, food cr*p and expensive and the staff rude, Landlord is an egomaniacal nightmare
anonymous - 13 Feb 2003 13:06
easily the best in wimbledon
great staff
anonymous - 23 Jan 2003 20:27
Brilliant pub now that it was renovated ! Food is great, booze is better.. Plus all the latest sporting action on a big screen....
Jay - 16 Oct 2002 09:39
good crowd, nice barstaff, decent grub and great pub for watching footy in.
Russ - 30 Sep 2002 11:42
A pint of Guinness and a Large House Dry White Wine please. A great pub to punctuate our walk home from Wimbledon station. (unless the tram is in !!)
ritmic - 26 Jul 2002 09:41

anonymous - 17 May 2002 17:49
This really is the BEST pub in Wimbledon, great food, friendly staff and a good time to be had, especially on Friday nights with the new late license and resident DJ....You'd be a fool not to try it
Fredrik Ljungberg - [email protected] - 2 May 2002 23:33
LOOKS FUNKY AND HAS THE BEST FOOD AND PARTY WEVE SEEN IN LONG TIME.CHECK IT OUT.
ss - [email protected] - 2 May 2002 23:00
Best pub in Wimbledon for sure, none of the Yates, commercial bar crap or the Common Room, village pomp A hell-of-a-cool pub, for hell-of-a-cool people...and the staff arent bad either.
Obi-Won Kenobi - 30 Apr 2002 13:49
it's now called the white hart and this photo does it no justice. it needs to be updated so people can see how different it is now
anonymous
it's now fully refurbished and is better than ever!! the new management works harder than i've ever seen anyone work. tell them that. go in and take a look,it's the best pub in wimbledon and all they need is a late licence
anonymous
Now reverted back to being called the White Hart. When it was last called that it had bar billiards and was very homely. Now looks like a film set for cocktail. No idea if it's any good - I just drove right on past...
jonesy
It's being done up - looks like a trendy wine bar. Do you know any more?
