William (i think) the new manager is doing an ok job, seems to be a little more strict which B2F has needed, just need the hoodies to stop terrorising people out front and it will be a gr8 late night venue to drink in . . but on a more serious note door men need to be a little more door-men like.

we have to give em top marks for effort really , they do try.
i think the r+b , hip hop etc ( rude boy music ) should be scrapped. This is the only late night venue in broadway ( legally.. )
if they played pumping deep house this could be an awsome dj bar. Well , thats my opinion anyways. I have only lived here for about a year and get fed up with the lack of late bars.
its so big, so v hard to 'fill up' but like i say , invest in good djs and advertise it well , keep it FREE entry and it would be rammed IMHO !
good luck bra2far !

Does exactly what it says on the tin. My parents came down to visit me in Tooting and we stopped off in A Bar 2 Far for a brief drink during the daytime, along with some food and the staff were exceptionally friendly. I've only been in there twice at night myself and managed to enjoy myself both times - and the same friendly staff member that served my parents was still friendly even under the hellish conditions of a Friday night shift and even managed to remember my drinks every time I went to the bar.
Some of the other customers may lean towards the rough side, but that's more or less just the population of Tooting and nothing to do with the bar itself. A very decent bar to go to.

How hard do these chaps have to try? Give em a break. It does what it says on the tin. Some unsavoury characters are now out, the food is good and prompt, they have your best interests at heart. Well done Georges, and Vince, you need to improve your handicap!!

So the bar too far boys had a reccy session around Tooting then!
So after visiting lots of bars a dessert in one of them is appropriate? Pray tell, what should a creme brulee be and do you not recognise vanilla pods when you see them?
All answers on a postcard please

Nice place, good service, lovely pizzas. Been to this bar a few times and found that the staff are plesant and very helpful I had a pizza the other day which was the best i had in a long while. i was also looking for some quality rum around the area and thankfully came across it. A must try if you are in the area

Maybe slightly against the idea of B.I.T.E., but I've been there a few times for lunch and found the place amazing. Have sat in the beer garden (v. spacious) and have lovely (cheap!) food with waiter service on the food and drinks from friendly staff. They will also take our food orders over the phone before we arrive so that we can get the job done in a lunch hour. Have never had a problem with dress code there even though I'm always wearing trainers, but I must admint this was at lunchtimes.

used to be a good late drinking option on a sunday or thursday in particular. avoid on friday and saturday nights at all costs when the chav brigade come out to play. stupid dress code.

I went to this pub with my friends for a few drinks, when my husband and his friends arrived they were told they could not come in because black shoes where required. My husband had black shoes on and when this was pointed out he was told buy an exteamly rude bouncer that they had to be black leather! Are you serious! This is tooting broadway for gods sake! A bar to far is so far up its own backside its not worth the effort. It defeats the purpose of a local and I for one will not be returning. If I wanted arrogant snobery I'd go into the city.
anonymous - 27 Jan 2007 17:49 |
After stupidly popping in for a pint last weekend, the bouncers looked at myself and a friend like we were scum. I think we must have been dressed too smartly for this crap hole.
|
Recently refurbished and proof that in the immortal words of William Shakespeare... "You can't polish a turd." They still have a cretinous dress code policy... no shorts in the garden after 9pm... So, if that's you, and you've been sunning yourself all day then off you go home to change (and don't come back). The drinks are outrageously priced and the 'entertainment' is like a bad evening in Benidorm. The one saving grace for this pub is that it's open late and, even if it started playing Dutch Electro Country it would still be preferable to the two cesspools that are the Tramshed and the Gordon Bennett.
|
I think with the Tramshed and Gordon Bennett (now the Royal Oak I believe), updating themselves slightly the Bar to Far has reacted by doing up it's layout and furture -it seems to have made an improvement.
It's not a bad place and I have had fun in there, I think the large beer garden will be good for the summer and the fact it's air conditioned it good too.
They do show the football, there is only a limited area of the bar that can view the one screen.
|
I cannot belive the dress policy that this place have....my friend was asked to remove his hat in the garden...what is that all about...when questioned about other people inside the bar wearing hats and bandanas the big hippo said...."thats religion"...come on stop discriminating against white people who just wnat to have a pint and something to eat after work.....by the way we had to wait an hour for a plate of nachos and the doormen are a discrace.

Sorry, that last comment should've been not let in. ;)
Mr. - 23 Apr 2004 16:05 |
I don't think this bar is that bad. Only once have I not been let in because of clothes, and have never been smartly dressed. It was because I was wearing a sports top. If you are the sort that thinks a bar is a doss house just because people aren't in Armani suits then don't go.
Okay the beer is a bit expensive, and the food is okay without being great, but people have been a bit harsh.
Nice atmosphere, nicer beer garden, and the bar staff will ask somebody who is obviously too drunk to leave.

anonymous - 23 Nov 2003 19:12 |
Lager is good, bitter is awful. Beer garden out back is quite nice. Very loud in evenings. There are nicer places in Tooting.
anon. - 7 Oct 2003 11:22 |
it's alright - nothing special but the beer gardens nice. Never had any problem whatsoever with the doormen or bar staff. Actually think its the best pint of Kroney in Tooting
Seb - 26 Sep 2003 17:42 |
really, really poor. trying too hard to be something it isn't. outdoors ok, usual rubbish eurofizz lager on tap and undrinkable bitter. avoid.
jeffrey bernard - 19 Sep 2003 15:27 |
it rocks, you all have attitude problems... better than anything else in tooting!! i mean look at gorden bennets or the mitre! yuk yuk! keep up the good work guys!!
m and the gang - 9 Sep 2003 08:05 |
Miserable bar staff, ignorant rude bouncers..get rid of em!!! Apart from that ok pub..late licence til 2am fri and sat!
StellaArtois - 8 Sep 2003 18:00 |
UGH! Bit like drinking in a car showroom!! Outside in summer is okay though. Toilets are minging.
Buns - 29 Aug 2003 16:12 |
Oh c'mon it's not as bad as everyone is saying. I'm not generally a fan of door staff but I have never had any trouble from them. In fact I think they are a good idea as they keep the Tooting scumbags out. It is open till 1:00am at the weekends and has a nice interior for Tooting bars, including a good outside area.
Ben - 15 Aug 2003 13:00 |
awfull agressive bullying door types.avoid,avoid,avoid.shithouse.the brewery should investigate these thugs.they are losing them alot of money.
brian tench - 3 Aug 2003 21:25 |
this bar has the rudest most ignorant unhelpfull fat bouncers it has ever been my misfortune to enconter.I and my colleagues at st georges hospital in future, boycott this hideos establishment until the above staff are removed.they have lost alot of money by there poor attitude.
perry como - 3 Aug 2003 21:18 |
Would love to meet my sg there after work each day but they don't sell VODKA CRUISERS or BUNDY RUM so i'll keep going to Belushi's thanx!!!
MEL - 16 Jul 2003 10:37 |
The idea is right, not bad looking inside. A bit like a Slug & Lettuce, however it's full of Giro cashing scumbags. When is Tooting ever going to get rid of these scumbags
Gary - 3 Jul 2003 17:34 |
Was in there at the weekend with some mates, one of whom was wearing tracksuit trousers. They had the cheek to tell him ONCE HE HAD BOUGHT A DRINK that he was wearing the wrong kind of clothes and could he please leave. Crap.
Briony - 23 Apr 2003 09:46 |
Comfy sofas inside, or tables outside. They do a very nice duck wrap.
