We've used this pub for a few years for an occasional good value, good quality pub lunch. The beer is always good and prices keen. Last went in January and the meal was nowhere near as good as it has been. I don't know what's changed but what ever it is it's not an improvement.

The prince is by far the best pub in the area they always make an effort for every occasion and thats what makes it!
The beer is allways fab!! a great place to drink, eat and watch sport !
We go to all the live music garenteed a great time, the staff always join in and go that extra mile for all of the customers !
The only pub i no of that has a foam party ! thinking about it the only pub i no to turf the inside .

You have to go to believe it !!

Pros: large beer garden

Cons: Chavs and idiots abundant; bad atmosphere and rude barstaff

Summary: There are many other better pubs and bars around the corner on Fleet High Street

Had lunch here today, bar magageress was so rude it was almost funny, bagette was stale and cold. No wonder the pub was nearly empty. Won't be eating here again.

Called in last tuesday to watch the football. It's a fairly large pub with plenty of bar space as well as ample seating.Four ales on,london pride, landlord, pedigree and hogs back spring ale.I started with the latter but found it not to be in the best condition so moved on to the pride, this was in better shape although it's not a particular favorite of mine. Whilst it's nice to see four pumps available i would prefer to see a more adventurous choice. Prices are very reasonable for the area, 2.68 if i remember correctly. Not a bad pub for a couple of pints, about the best on offer in fleet, but i probably wouldnt stay for a long session.

The prince is a fabulous pub, nice and lively with very friendly and professional staff.
the events they put on are always entertaining, the landlady always making a special effort for particular events.
Really worth going for family meal during the day or in the evening for a fun night out!!!

Lovely pub, you must see the Christmas lights. Always something going on, quiz night, poker night, live bands etc

Also, the food is very reasonable and of very good quality

Had a very nice Fathers Day lunch with my family. We had to wait 30 minutes for the food but we were advised about that beforehand, the pub was very busy. Nice to have a choice of 4 Real Ales, I'll certainly be going back.

There have been significan't changes at the pub over the last 12 months. There is now football and beer, so don't have to trip over people eating to watcht he game and have a drink

Spent a pleasant saturday afternoon in the garden and the staff were very friendly and the landlady was very professional and a really good host. Reasonably priced food, well cooked, good value for money

This is one of my locals and I have been using it quite a bit last few months since it was refurbished. I have found the staff friendly, the food is standard pub fare and good value for money (and have not had any of the long wait problems some of the earlier reviews have suffered). The Quiz night is fun, choice of four real ales and lots of screens for the sport. not a bad local.

What a load of garbage from the last reviewer, I can only imagine it was one of the young girls that has finally been chucked out & has a grudge. The food is of a good standard for a pub chain, the new manager has got the bar staff organised & the service has improved greatly.

I will take back any good things I said about this pub! The new manager is absolutely appauling, she is stroppy and not right for the pub! The assistant manager is a pervert and you kind of get the feeling that he is staring at you the whole time! The staff are rude and don't smile! The food has gone down hill and apart from the portion size shrinking it is like eating a plate of grease! I would reccomend that if you want an enjoyable meal or night out with friends or family not to go here!

I have just been reading through the comments and felt that I had to add mine. I was also at The Prince of Wales on Sunday and yes I did have a wait for my food, but when it arrived it was well worth the wait! It is no wonder that the staff are slightly disgruntled when they are understaffed in this pub, but they are never rude! The manager is a great fella and he has really turned this pub around. It could be worse the last couple could return! I eat here on a regular basis and other than having to wait occasionally, the food is fantastic.

I went to this pub yesterday for Sunday Lunch and was SO disappointed - I would like to warn everyone of the awful service I (and many others) received.

My friend and I turned up around 1:30pm on a sunny day which also happened to coincide with the Fleet Marathon; therefore, the pub was busy and the garden packed. Since the pub has recently been refurbished, we assumed this also indicated an uplift in the quality of service and food. We did not have anything else to do for the day and so were happy to wait the hour for food, as informed by the grumpy bar staff who tried their best to deter us from placing an order.

Two hours after placing our order, having witnessed at least ten other parties complaining about the wait and also the poor quality of any food actually received (many demanding a refund), there was still no sign of our meals. I therefore joined the lengthy queue of disgruntled customers at the bar and also requested my money back.

We had not been given a table number, instead being told that 'we will come out and shout on the patio', and so this caused more delays as the staff had to find out exactly what I was due as a refund.

The bar staff continued to take food orders despite an enormous backlog of orders and people walking out in disgust every five minutes.

In short, I wasted 3 hours of my day in total, putting more and more money behind the bar while I waited in vain for a Sunday Lunch.

I would discourage everyone from visiting this pub if there is any risk of it being busy, as they are hideously understaffed. The staff they do have there (including the manager) are rude and unwilling to help or offer any customer service.

New landlords have put the spark back into the Prince, which is great seeing it back alive again.

We had an unannounced table of 10 which Terry and the team were only too happy to accomodate and on top of that the food was top drawer and the service excellent and timely (and the prices reasonable).

Good to see my local back on the map. The future most certianly is bright.

Got to say that they have new landlords there now and it ok! the food is still the best i know of in fleet (pubs that is) starf r always nice! going to see if i can come back and work 4 them :)

Great location and fantastic size interior and exterior. Unfortunately currently managed by the most inappropriate people to run a pub in existance. Miserable, rude, unfriendly, incompetent - such a shame that a place with such potential is being hampered by the brewery's seeming inability to source a good manager. Avoid for the time being!
Dr.Headache.Rushing - 7 Jul 2006 14:41
Has the potential to be the best pub in the area, but the landlords seem to have taken the life out of the pub and void of ideas of how to put it back in.

Lack of other pubs in the Fleet/Crookham area with a garden and parking make it ideal for progression, but something needs to change.

Food is poor, take ages and is usually cold by the time it's dished up by the miserable looking staff.

Great pub. Very friendly landlord couple, and has a very welcoming feel. Drinks are a bit pricy, and food not great, but a nice atmosphere all the same.
Good quiz night on Wednesdays
mancdaz - 9 Jan 2006 12:35
Used to come here as a student to escape when staying at boyfriend's parents so it was something of a haven. More than a decade on and it hasn't really changed at all, still quite busy. Quiz (not easy I can tell you) on a Wednesday. Food looks OK altho clearly bought-in brewery standard and not freshly prepared on the premises. Standard wines, two draft ales, large children's area out the back, decent pint of Kronenbourg. Quite a generic interior in a pre-'00s non-refit kind of way. Averagely inoffensive.
