Nice, friendly pub just down the road from a very good campsite. The stillaged beers were both from Woodfordes - Wherry and Bure Gold on this occasion. The food looked good, but I didn't get to try on this occasion. I'll be back again soon.

A reservation for a party of approx. twenty guests was made several months ago and a phone call was made from the pub well in advance to confirm the booking. However, within days of the booked date we were informed that due to kitchen refurbishment they could not cater for our group leaving very little time to find an alternative as the date for the gathering had been published in our club journal. Far more notice should have been given and my suggestion that should we book at The Sorrel Horse in the future a substantial discount would be offered by way of compensation fell on deaf ears.

Discovered this traditional thatched village pub after passing the nearby Plough, where at 5.30 pm on a summer Wednesday afternoon the staff, drinking in the beer garden, watched us park before telling us they did not open until 6pm.

Feeling miffed, drove on and saw the sign for the Sorrel Horse and decided to give it a go. A great ( genuine) welcome, a bit of chat with the friendly locals, with Wherry at £3.30 on gravity, great tasting and enjoyed in the sunny front garden. Bliss.

Turns out this pub was to be closed down but the village rallied round to form their own PubCo. Seems they've got it right. Went back a couple of days later to enjoy extremely good reasonably priced eats. Well worth seeking out, it approaches your vision of the ideal pub of your dreams. Date of visit 24/7/14

Recent visit proved dissapointing. Of the several beers on offer all were from Greene King (boring) except for Woodfordes Wherry which was approaching vinegar. The fish & chips were OK but rather small portions.

This is a gorgeous pub set in an equally nice village. The beer is gravity fed and kept well. I was drinking Woodfordes Wherry but there was the usual descent Adnams amongst others on offer too. The garden at the front soaks up the sun and the landlord is most accommodating. We were also lucky enough to get in a few games of bar billiards too. I look forward to my return.

A delightful little village pub - unpretentious and welcoming with the incumbents genuinely (self) interested in providing good value food and drink for their customers. The beer (Woodfordes Wherry or Adnams Bitter on gravity) was heaven (the first drop to score 5/5 for me this year) and the Suffolk Ham on wholemeal was perfect.
I was just a walker en route but we all need to support such establishments as they are what a good village pub is all about.

Had a meal here in march 2010, really excellent, and the beer was very good too. The people were very welcoming and the real fire was appreciated on a cold day. A pub that's worth going out of your way for!

had a fantastic meal here last night
Had the Baked flat mushroom topped with aubergine Bolognese that was to die for and for a main I had the mixed grill fantastic
They were extremely busy there but all staff coped very well.
I drank adnams straight from the barrel and was great
i cant believe someone put a bad review on here as it was gorgeous spoke to the chef he was amazing and there food was defiantly not microwaved as they don't have one!
All in all i give this lovely pub a 10 out of 10 recommend to anyone it is fantastic

A welcome suprise, beer on gravity dispense and above average food. Above average prices as well, 9.95 for a sunday roast, but just about worth it.

Sorry to say I was very disappointed by the place, [cant comment on the beer.] Taking into account as they describe the place. Locally sourced ingredients... [read that as] frozen or perhaps the local Tesco`s

Char-grilled chicken on a bed of leavesIt took 3/h hrs to arrive, Char-grilled Chicken had never seen a flame and was `fridge` coldso why the wait? Salad was OK

Mixed grill..they must have a microwave with the `ping` removed or Im going deaf.

Try the place if you want.

Drink the beer..might be an improvement

Looks nice from the outside.very picturesque

This pub is marked as closed but it is definitely open. I had a very nice Mother's Day lunch there yesterday. As I was driving, can't comment on the beer quality but the real ales are still straight from the barrel.

Visited here early eve. on a Wednesday a couple of weeks ago, I like country Pubs that are country Pubs and this certainly fits the bill, if you want glitz and bling, try somewhere else, if you are comfortable with the kind of place that feels like someones home (Which it is!)then this is for you, Lovely drop of Adnams, straight from the barrel, friendly locals, the trade in food was busy and although the Landlord was serving both food and behind the bar he did not neglect his bar custom.
Could maybe do with a bit more identity tied into the name, The Sorrel Horse is better known as the Suffolk Punch, the native draught horse of the county.
