Popped into the pub last Saturday with the intention of having a pub lunch with my family but was advised that they only do food from Monday to Fridays and Sundays. No Saturdays!! So lunch was had elsewhere. A business opportunity missed I think when you consider how busy Peckham is on a Saturday.

7 for a Sunday Roast is totally unheard of in these parts.

I had the beef which was really lovely.

Well worth a visit for the food alone.

Visited this pub recently for a function and the staff could not have been more hospitable if we had asked...
The food provided was superb and the staff went out of their way to put on a few extra's for the children.
The staff were friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much for them.
I would highly recommend this pub if you are looking for a function venue with the best quality food on offer - great service!!

Beer poorly kept - a shame as a popular place

I have been using this pub occasionally for a few years. The lunch-time food is the best value around and the staff are friendly and pleasant. Nice people. So is Hoagy (Mr. hogan to you), the landlord.

Nice pub with a great sunday roast.

Wonderful Sunday lunch, the best in South London, friendly staff the only down side being it can take a while to get served. You have to queue to order food and then queue again for a drink. Also please, please manager, will you get some decent red wine, that stuff you service is unpalitable.
I still rate the pub really highly though.

The pub has a lot of screens so if you want to watch a match you are in luck. Bound to be able to see form somewhere.
Never tried the food but going from the smell sight and the empty plates it is supposed to be very good.
They layout of the bar area does mean that being served a beer is hit and miss, you go from bar to bar to catch the barmans eye.
The clientele are locals and not welcoming. With the smoking ban the large outdoor area is now well used.

I am happt to watch footie natches here and I will try the food sometime.

Went to my friends wedding reception here a few months back and can honestly say this pub is a gem the staff are always polite and friendly and the manager went out of his way to make sure we had a great time and everything runned smoothly. Will visit again if we are in the area. 10/10

Sometimes it takes forever to get served.

I went there for lunch today and I can honestly say it is the best food Ive tasted anywhere. Also 7.00 for rack of lamb is pretty good. I know the place is full of pensioners, (hey, I have nothing against pensioners) but the food is to die for and the staff are good too. I am still salivating at the taste of my lunch. Thank you.

went there with a friend on sunday, the flowers ipa real ale well looked after, and as usual one the best traditional sunday lunches in a pub in london, the shank of lamb perfect.
Have to say the revamp last summer also makes this a more attractive pub than before.

The owner and staff always friendly and ready for a chat. The place is also good for televised sport

The White Horse looks very inviting since it has been revamped. Great place to book for a function. The food is wonderful.

This is the best pub in Peckham by miles and it also has the cleanest Toilets I have ever seen in a pub ever. The sunday lunches here are awesome and the staff polite and accomidating.

Fantastic 10/10

Just to add that not only is this pub excellent for Sunday lunch and a decent beer or two and a chat but is also excellent for functions. I recently had my Mothers 60th birthday celebration in this pub and it was excellent.

Michael was excellent in helping me organise the night, including sorting out music and food and on the night his staff were brilliant. The band were good, the food superb which contributed to an excellent evening. I had about 60 guests and it held it easily.

They are also making the back of the pub bigger so they can have bigger functions in the future.

A great pub on a Saturday morning for chatting to the old boys of Peckham.(What they dont know about Peckham over the years isnt worth knowing.Pub interior could do with a bit of brightening up as its a bit dingy, but still very friendly staff. Will go again.

Well what can I say...

I agree with the previous comment!! The food in the White Horse on a sunday is amazing!! & is such good value for money!! The roast beef is lovely - but the garlic/mozzerella chicken is out of this world!!! ha!

The Sunday Lunch at this pub is South London's best kept secret. I challenge anyone to find a better more value for money Sunday lunch anywhere. The rack of lamb is too die for at a mere 6. (Even the Yorkshire Pudding is homemade). It is a family run pub and regulars are treated like VIPs. For the younger crowd pop over the road to the Rye Hotel which has a wonderful beer garden, is tastefully decorated and there are friendly, chatty staff. The pubs in Peckham are really on the up. Also try the Gowlett - again nice management and friendly staff - no TV screens blaring in the background, organic wines and delicious pizza,s. Unfortunately this is the only choice of food which is why I would only give it an 8.

Old fashioned family-type pub. Sunday lunch brilliant.
