Great little pub, nice ladlady and staff and friendly locals. Have spent many an enjoyable session in here. Very well kept ales that are frequently changing. Friends love the hearty food, which is reasonably priced, but unfortunately no veggie food - although they will do egg and chips, it's not the same. Dogs welcome so great after a walk along the Sandstone Trail. Second best pub in Frodsham (after Helter Skelter).

What an excellent village local! A superb pint of Charles Wells Bombardier followed by an equally tasty pint of JW Lees Coronation Ale. The food looked extremely good value and very nicely presented.

Really enjoyed a lunch in this pub recently.
Tasty, wholesome food - at extremely good value for money - excellent ales and a warm welcome.
What more could a rambler want?

A nice old multi-roomed pub but comes across as very cliquey.

Nice pub (female licencee, so no surprise there). Old building with well preserved features. Lots of rooms - a real warren - interesting and plenty of seating. Lots of good quality prints hanging on walls - more interest. Menu written on blackboard - always a good sign. Food is top qualty home cooking - not chef school stuff but a good meal at a fair price. Hubby says a very decent selection of ales. Good car park. Well worth the trip out of town.

Fantastic place just up the hill from Frodsham town centre and on the Sandstone Trail so handy for walkers. The interior is wonderfully cosy and the seperate drinking areas are full of character, with bric-a-brac, low ceilings, original fittings etc. 3 or 4 ales to choose from and Black Sheep was on top form. Well worth the 10-minute walk up from Frodsham, and the Bull's Head next door is also highly recommended.
