Nice enough pub. But there was quite a wait to be served on Saturday evening and most tables had empty glasses on them. Unsurprisingly they were running out of glasses behind the bar. It certainly seems like they need a few more staff. Ales were Harviestoun Old Engine Oil, Purity Ubu, Brakspear Bitter, Cotleigh Uncle Sam & Sharps Doom Bar. The interior is a typical Ember Inns one. It's one large room with standard décor. Although a number of beams and partitions help create separate drinking environments. The pub has a large car park with a bowling green at the rear and a separate skittle alley that appeared to be in use during our visit.

Nice pub with typical Enber Inns decor no problems there. Great range of ales but I could not sample them because the bar staff were too engaged in pandering to the locals to notice a thirsty stranger. Would have to think hard about a return visit.

Ember Inn with decent food. However, it is an Ember Inn, a bland chain, like the nearby Country Girl.

Reasonable (if very busy on a Sunday, so they must be doing something right) - range of beers including of course some from M&B (who own Ember Inns) - food is usual Ember Inns level although Sunday roast untried. Certainly better than the pub down the road (although it would have to be).

Noticeably better than some of the other "Ember Inns" chain pubs nearby, so presumably a better manager. Particularly appreciated is willingness to keep music volume down to level where conversation can be held! Bar staff are usually friendly, and, on my visits, sufficient to deal with demand. Standard Ember Inns selection of beers, plus one or two guest ales . I've only sampled food once, but it was reasonable for such standard chain pub. Luckily I've never been there on "quiz night".

Seems like i'm the first to comment in nearly 3 years.

Good manager and team very freindly, never eaten there but the food looks and smells good.

The ale selection is limited because it's a tied house, however the ales they do have are well kept and if there is a problem, ie. end of barrel they will change it without argument.

No change here still a dump.

Well we won the sunday night quiz recently, Hurrah!!!
However, most people are tapping on their blackberrys and mobiles so you can only win by luck and not by having your brainy mate with you. Also, they now have some little girly compering it and she's rubbish to the point of irritation what with her nervous laughing and inablity to read the questions properly! The beer is supermarket stuff so nothing to get excited about. The pub "fayre" is on a similar low level too. The one plus point though is that in this area it is a boring but safe venue so you if you're fairly normal and not some knife-wielding, tattooed Jeremy Kyle reject then you can have a reasonable night with a few mates and partners (if you are, then The Hiberenian isn't too far away)

Had a top night in there last night, has to chuck us out at the end as was having a great laugh. Came close on the quiz with 43 points, winner got 45, reccomend this pub to anyone. Nice clean facilities, nice beer and a rugby themed real ale every week it seems, last week we had dirty tackle and this week it was swing low. Serves food till 9 as well. 8/10

Despite being almost identical pubs (same chain), the Selly Park Tavern is better than the Country Girl up the road. They seem to run out of beer less often. A bit less busy than the Country Girl. Nice, but in an underwhelming sort of way.

A very nice pub. Good selection of beers, regularly changed. Excellent food at reasonable cost, regular quiz nights and most of all, a friendly atmsophere with no yobs.
