Went here before and after the Hackney Empire and liked it very much indeed, fairly quiet before hand, pints on the ay home types, very cheerful and friendly traditional pub, nice barmaid, primo pint of Hobgoblin for 2.85.

Returned later and it was busy with a very mixed local crowd, a band playing out the back, geezers playing cards, dominos, and now two cheerful pretty barmaids, they even sold dart flights behind the bar which took me back in time, a good looking small beer garden although it was damp when I was there

Thoroughly enjoyable and I wish them well for running such a traditional proper pub

I think the landlady must read these reviews... Real ale is now available. 2 hand pumps serving Hobgoblin and Pedigree. Had a pint of the Hobgoblin which was good.

This pub has also been decorated since by last visit, although the woodchip still there. Oh well can't have everything.

Been in this pub a few times, and always found it relaxing with friendly locals. This is one of the few traditional pubs left in Hackney, a proper pub with pool table and dart board. The layout of the pub is interesting and unusual in the way that the back corridor that leads to the toilets divides the pub into two halves. I would imagine that the layout has remained unaltered since the pub was built. The exterior is well kept and the paint work in good condition. There is also a well tendered garden and smoking shelter.

The times I have visited this pub, the bar staff have always been friendly and chatty and make you feel welcome. The beers on offer are the usual brands i.e. Fosters, John Smiths, though there is a good choice of bottled beers.

The only thing that I would like to see is the introduction of a couple of real ales and maybe getting rid of the woodchip from the walls. All in all, this is one of the better pubs in Hackney and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a friendly traditional local.

Nice pub with pleasant beer garden for the summer and friendly service. Try the Chesham Arms, up a back alley from here going towards Homerton High Street, too.

The beer garden is a must in Summer! Relaxed atmosphere. Toilets a bit on the unwashed side, but perhaps I just got there at the wrong time! Decent price & snacks

After surveying the selection of standard draught I plumped for a Guinness before having a wander around the pub. It was just after I spotted the pool table and the dartboard that I encountered one of the most pissed up blokes I have ever seen in a pub. He was in his forties and he had an unopened bottle of WKD in one hand and he was using the other to try and push himself up from the wall that he had become stuck to. I walked slowly behind him as he bounced his way down the corridor at the back before crashing through the toilet door, never to be seen by my eyes again. I thought that I would make my way back towards the front of the pub to be nearer the exit in case there were more of these things rebounding of the furniture. Thankfully he was the only one in that state and the barmaid was busy mopping up the bar area to erase any evidence of his patronage.

There are plasma screens dotted about the pub and they have Sky and Setanta for all of the football. I thought that for a Sunday afternoon the music was a little loud, but that is just a personal preference.

I ended up finishing my pint in the smoking shelter that is located in the beer garden and it was here that I decided not to be too harsh on this pub as I quite liked it, even with the drunk who should have probably been refused service two hours prior to my visit.

No ale, but nice staff and plenty to do so I would visit again if passing.

I'm surprised there's only one comment for this pub. Very good pub, fantastic service and a lovely garden with a well-kept lawn. Generic lagers on tap, but there is a good selection of bottled beers. They had put cheese and biscuits out on the bar in the afternoon for people to snack on, which was a nice touch.

This pub is amazing, I had a brilliant time here. It has darts in a really nice set-up almost in a private darts room and one of those electronic score calculators, and it has a pool room and a cool statue of Elvis. Late on when we were there a seafood man came round and we got a feast of delicious things. It also has a really pretty garden which is fab in the summer. It's made up of lots of interconnected rooms which I like. I want to go here more.
