Local's pub very different to the touristy places nearer the river. Was okay although I didn't stop long.

They only keep Young's bitter on handpull, which was in good condition.
Was very quite at 1930 on a Saturday evening.

3rd pub on my mini crawl of East Greenwich.

Came in just before 9pm, the only ale on tap was Young's Bitter. Decent enough pint.

Friendly bar maid and staff, pretty quiet to be honest group watching the Racing on television in one corner, a couple of fellas playing darts and the rest of the clientele sitting and chatting at the bar.

Carpeted throughout in the front bar, wooden floor in the back bar where the Pool Table and Dart board is located

Music playing to an acceptable level.

Decent place but more for locals and I would imagine they don’t get too much passing trade, worth a visit though as is it a solid boozer.

"Solid boozer" as last reviewer said.
Looks like it has not changed much since 1973. It is quite small but they have a function hall and offer it for hire for free as long as you drink the Thames dry in return.
I will check with my mates and get back to them...

Popped in here whilst on a crawl last week - didn't even know it existed despite having been visiting Greenwich since I was a kid!

Only stopped for one, but it was alright. Nothing special and I'm not sure I would go out of my way to go back - not with the Cutty Sark and the Pelton Arms on the doorstep - but a solid enough boozer.

Came across this pub as its tucked out of the way right next to the power station.
Love it. Very friendly staff, customers and atmosphere. Spacious inside and has a pool table and dart board.
Nice seating area out the front which is a sun trap.
Definately going back.

The STAR AND GARTER is a really nice Pub.
It has a good atmosphere. Especially on their new Singles Night on every Friday. It doesn't have any Teeny Boppers there to shove and push. And a lot of people come to the Friday Night and just have a really good time. I have made a lot of friends.
I didn't go there to meet anyone in particular just because I was lonely. The Dj plays some really great tunes and is always on the look out for your requests.
There's no entry fee and free nibbles !! The drinks are good in price. What would be the point of staying in on a Friday night now ?
