Love this place even if it is for the jepardy factor when dancing on a table wasted! The live music was good on the occasion I went, and I did get to witness a m8 fall off ;)

Dancing on the tables
Dancing on the bar
wow what a pub. Not made like this anymore.

I was there with Pauly all those years ago and a blinding time was had by all. Back then couldn't knock it jammed full of Newcastle Brown drinking college kids all trying to sing louder than Derek. On reflection location may have been a bit of an issue, but who cares when you are having THAT much fun.

Grate boozer with a grate upstairs for bands and stuff

Great, great pub. A good Friday night out here is full of cheer, beer and no fear. Sing along to the classics strummed by the dude playing his guitar on the 'stage' under the stairs. Stand on the tables and dance the night away.
For anyone living north of the town centre in Southampton, it's a bit of a mission to get here as it is in Ocean Village (not far from S'ton Institute's Lucia Foster Halls). I live in Portswood, so it's about 45 mins - 1 hour walk away. It is worth it occasionally, though. You can always get a taxi if you're that lazy.

Reminds me of a Honky Tonk bar.

Cramped, smokey, loud, but absolutely fantastic. It's hard to beat a night out in it : pissed, dancing on the tables, listening to Derek, etc. Also the rather sublime experience of having the whole pub insert "Fuck Off" into the chorus of "Yellow Submarine". Magnificent.

Is this place still going? We used to go there every Friday from the late 80's onwards, when Derek was just the guitarist and not the landlord, before the fire, before the changes of ownership and the long cultural drout when it was shut down, way back when they used to brew their own, and Newcy Brown was 1.20 or so a bottle... great days, I can't believe it's as good now as it was / as I remember it being.

The Frog, is an excellent pub, excellent atmosphere, chuck out at 2am, brilliant security, no hassle just a good nite on the piss on the tables with live music. Get there at the weekend, u wont regret it.

Can't comment on the pub, but I've heard the landlord/guitarist in action elsewhere: v. entertaining, so a good night at the Frog must be pretty special.

Dancing pissed on the tables! A special pub indeed. Troy slept in the bush outside afterwards

Sawdust, spit, drunken acoustic guitar sing-a-long sessions, decent beer, 2 floors, great atmosphere. Has run out of tequila on occasion, but this can be overlooked.
