Seriously in need of demolishing, total eyesore.

Closed down. On one hand it was a shame, and maybe it was coming. Was in one evening for onenight before the closure and the atmosphere afterwards was 'cagey'. There was a chavalanche descending on it, most Fridays, and a northern soul DJ told me some records he had were nicked and damaged by punters.

It was a better feel , more 'studenty' on the quiz night I came to, 2 weeks before it went. Still, it wasn't packed at all. And there are better pubs nearby (PoW and PK's).

Still , back in the day it was a great music venue (80s and 90s), possibly grabbing the mantle from the Goose. RIP 'The JUg'.

Closed, was OK for gigs, but beer and atmosphere was rubbish. Still rating it as a 10 though, so it is now closed but still rated higher than the Bulls Head, or Elizabeth of York. Which says it all.

CLOSED. For better or worse. Shame in a way as When I saw David Devant & His Spirit Wife here it was one of the 10 best gigs i've ever seen.

Called in, no real ale or atmosphere so left

Have come here a few times over the years for gigs and that, but I agree that its noisy otherwise and a bit scruffy even by moseley standards.

Who says it's closing? I've not heard anything... Anyway, like everyone else says the beer's nothing special, but it's the live music people come here for, and it's still one of the best venues in the city for that.

Decent pub, lots going on, loud, beer okay.

What is clear is that this is not a place to come for a drink and a quiet chat. The beer is rubbish and it is busy, noisy and crowded. However, it IS a place to go and see live music. Frequent bands on, usually not too bad. You might even meet some nice people if you can hear them above the racket... Not a pub for everyone, but if you like a spot of live music every now and again then it's worth having a look.

This is the loudest pub in Moseley. If you want to talk-forget it. Upstairs bar only sells pints, and Carling at that. And you have to form an orderly queue to get it. What the pub lacks in beer quality, it makes up for in terms of music: A policy of top Birmingham indie bands, and bands on the rise playing the Jug for their Birmingham venue, while touring. Promoter Arthur Tapp has run the indie music scene from this pub for the last 12 years or so. He also supports Birmingham label Bearos, and organises nights for them here.
