finally opened, last night,Antic pub called shinner and sudtone!a few people inside, and tiger feet by mud was being blasted out as I walked past.
hoppyal - 16 Sep 2016 11:13
when this was scruffy murphys,it was probably the best pub in the high street, since then bar room bar, pepper lounge, bounce, bar 68,and smoking lounge have come and gone quickly on this premises.now seems antic beer chain have got it.which would be a welcome,as they are good with beers and craft beers.also tend to be more upmarket venues,so not sure if that will work in Sutton, but lets hope it does!

open now as bounce bar,had a quick pint of lager in here last week.same as bar before with comfortable seating and the addition of 5/6 tv screens which has sky sports on. will do ok at weekend, but wonder if they can attract the punters in the week.worth a visit if you are a lager drinker..

Been done up recently, it's all right in there. Wouldn't bother at night just because the music isn't to my taste. They have games consoles in there and let kids in during the day which I don't think any otherhigh street pub does. The staff seem a good bunch as well.

its the best wannabe cocktail bar on the precinct,...a legend in its own drinking up time,........absolutely disgraceful sterile hole
kmcs - 6 May 2005 12:20
i have been using brb for just over a year.the music is as good as anywhere in london.the manager makes sure all the skint, flirty girls get the free drink they are after.(if only they could afford to pay for themselves).if the bar manages to get a later licence, the rest of suttons night life will struggle.

I have visited Bar Room Bar on several occasions. The door staff are always courteous, and the bar staff very attentive, depending on how busy it gets. The manager a very friendly bloke introduced himself, and wished us a good evening, he said to tell him if anything spolied our time there. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the DJs were the best I've heard for a long time. It gets very, very busy, but from my experience thats what happens to excellent bars. I am looking forward to returning soon.

I was sad to see scruffy's go, but this is a decent addition to sutton's bars. Quite relaxed in here, and pizza is perfect when drunk
MATTHEW - 23 Sep 2004 17:10
I agree about the management, very sleezy and overly friendly to all the ladies! But I got a free drink out of it! But the musics great and the last sat night of each month is a great night out, theses guys have got some wicked dj's.
laura - 19 Sep 2004 14:30
I went in and had to complain because we waited so long to get served. The Manager was really friendly, but his eye contact was rather too South of my eyes for my liking. But we got a free drink . Typical good service for a fat cat big brand. Nice venue, better than before, but too busy, too blokey and to be honest too pretentious. And if you are going to be a cocktail bar, teach your staff to flare properly!

I was a long-standing fan of Scruffys. It was a shame to see the only true live music venue in Sutton disappear.
Having said that, BRB isn't bad. It serves after 1100, has music and a small dance floor. You can usually find seating and they seem to have cracked the whole overheating and ventilation thing which blighted the venue when it was Scruffys. The only downside is that whilst the clientele arent the usual chavs or maturing thugs found in other similar venues, they are mainly blokes, in fact, youve got more chance of selling a bacon sandwich in Baghdad Market than pulling here. Maybe its just the day I went, but there were about 40 blokes to every girl which, even if youre not on the sniff, makes for a slightly unbalanced atmosphere.
If youre chilled and can managed joined up writing then BRB shouldnt disappoint.

When i firrst entered bar room bar i was pleasently suprised, the service was excellent and the staff very friendly. The first time i visited was for lunch, the food was of high quality and very resonable priced. I returned to the bar that evening and was amazed that it was the same bar, the atmosphere was electric and exactly like a central london bar, i have and will visit this bar again it is without a doubt the best bar in Sutton.

james mann - 20 Jul 2004 16:07
brb has a good vibe, to good for usual sutton burberry posse though!!
anonymous - 24 Jun 2004 17:19
One look from the outside says you don't need to go in. Why the Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo did they ever change from Scruffy's, the only proper live music venue at this end of Sutton? Used to be a good age range and some great bands.(Still 20 mins to be served tho!) Top of the High Street did not need another bar aimed at dance music and younmger patrons only.
ARG - 20 Jun 2004 06:31
One of the best places in Sutton (and the competition ain't that great). Can get uncomfortably rammed at times, but there's an impressive array of spirits available
DeeN - 27 May 2004 10:25
I loved this place when it was Scruffys and still think it was a big mistake to change it. I think it is trying to be a "london-type" bar which does not work in Sutton. Would not visit again.
Jo - 15 Mar 2004 15:35
Not sure what this place is trying to be? Is It a Bar a Night club? Why charge people to go into a Pub? And let them wait 20 minutes to be served..I wont be back!!!!
Rich - 26 Jan 2004 16:10
It's the least sh?t bar in Sutton.
Ad - 1 Dec 2003 14:09
It is boring, expensive and too full.

The dance floor is tiny, the rst of place is so packed it will take 1/2 hour to get near the bar an another to get served!
Emma! - 31 Oct 2003 09:55
Poncy over priced and with shit music. Bring back Scruffys
Derek - 17 Oct 2003 13:33
Yep not a bad place but doesn't belong in Sutton. I used to work in Scruffys when it first opened (when the place was good). Gets very hot and far too packed but this will probably even out when people have got bored with it.
Diasy - 4 Jul 2003 15:44
Top tunes from DJ Weff on the sat just gone! give him a regular slot. The place was packed out!
Andy C - 27 May 2003 12:17
Finally!! Somewhere decent to go to for anyone who's over 25 and wants to go a bar with a bit of class, other than All Bar One. Good atmosphere, good tunes, good bar staff. My first initial thought was it was a little out of place in Sutton...if you forget where you are for a minute you could be mistaken for being in a West End bar. It has just opened so hopefully it wont be ruined by the teenage residents who seem to get everywhere!
Sarah - 11 May 2003 18:45
It doenst exist any more. Its been refurbished and is now a poncy bar called BRB
Barry Kerr - 27 Mar 2003 00:24
Save for a couple of bands they were all crap. Funniest thing about the place is the barman with a voice like bonny langford on helium. One to avoid in the summer as they pack you in like Sardines and there's no air con, or wasn't any way
Richy Gas - 26 Feb 2003 14:03
As an update, this is true. Scruffy's closes Friday 24th Jan.
Steve - 21 Jan 2003 16:51
Oh my God! This is horrific news - surely it's not true
Steve - 11 Jan 2003 12:51
It's going. To be replaced by some other 'themed' venue. Damn, no more bands of the calibre of "Mr Mushroom's Lucky Pants"
No more smashed urinals, no more fights, no more "how the hell did I end up with him/her nights" A local legend soon to disappear forever
anonymous - 11 Jan 2003 12:43
Good boozer - great music on Fri and Sat nights - "The Zone" have been a cracking band recently. Scruffys do tend to over-fill the place once it gets bast 2300, but it's not as bad as it used to be. Plumbing in the Gents however is pretty poor and the entire place is usually swimming in piss before midnight - nice.
Anyway, great place to mosh to Nirvana covers - probably the best after 2300 establishment in the area.
Steve - 22 Nov 2002 16:56
It's brilliant cheap pints, live music and a great atmosphere. I recomend the band "Bad 2 The Bone" they play once a month, awesome!
Phil - [email protected] - 14 Oct 2002 14:46
Really great atmosphere in the evenings - esp. good for groups. Often very cool live music & dancing.
Katie - 23 Jul 2002 14:47
You have more chance of winning the lottery than catching the kitchen open for food. Saying that I am very large chap and could do with going on a diet.
