Fuckin' bouncers..they're so rude!!!! I just left my friends' stuff on the corner for me to watch over but then that stupid bouncer shook my neck and told me to leave the stuff inside the cloak room.. I got so pissed off with what he did, he could have said things in a nice way. I told him not to touch me then he told me to get out! I didnt even do anything wrong.. He was the one being aggressive! if anything happens to my neck, I'll sue them! LOL!!

Awful, avoid.

The positive comments below are posted by the management.

Can i just say i had such a great night at zoo bar on friday night.
The music was excellent & i danced all night.
Drinks were an ok price & i expected it to cost more for a club in central london.
The people inside were a good mix of girls to boys which is better than some places. I am already planning on having a party there soon!

Even though i read these stupid comments from people i still do love to go to zoo bar and it is one of my favourite places to go. I have many friends that go there and are regular customers & totally enjoy thenselves.

If zoo bar is really that bad how come it is one of the busiest clubs around and the line sometimes is just amazing to see how many people love it.

Zoo Bar has great student nights during the week especially tuesday (really cheap drinks) and on a saturday night it just is so much fun listening and dancing to Dj Eddie play his tunes.

This was my worst bar experience in London. Although the 8 of us celebrating a friends leaving do, went in with the best of intentions and a good, friendly mood we ended up having the worst night ever, being abused by bouncers and regretting giving our money to a place like this. The security stuff -who btw are everywhere!-is full of ignorant ex-bodybuilders who were bullied back in school and got this job to get revenge on the society. After being repeatedly harassed by one of them we asked to speak to the manager who - surprise!- looked like coming out of a Guy Richie movie (or wanted to look like one), treated us with disrespect, was hostile and with even worse manners than the bouncers. (Apparently he used to be one of them who got promoted for having a record number of teenagers beaten up in one night!!)
They seemed to regularly throw people out of the bar with any excuse - which we figured out is a good way of refreshing the clientelle every hour or so by the long queues outside, and pocketing more money.
Generally there are no rules or rights in this bar, it is like entering a crazy person's home and you have to play by his rules. Seriously, there are so many nicer places to go in London, with friendlier atmosphere and much better service.
There is one thing I owe to give them thought: they couldn't have chosen a better name!

I can't think of anything worse than a night out in here...except maybe a sudden amputation or 8 car pile up.....

words can't describe how awful this place is....

I was at zoo bar the other day & had a ball. The Euro was showing and everyone was watching & the place had such a buzz about it. Also they had great drinks prices from 9pm for there student night which i ended up staying for as its not just only 18 year olds. I'm going back really soon!!
slee - 12 Jun 2008 12:17
I love going to zoo bar & having so much fun. They really do go by party hard or go home! If you just want to be able to be yourself & have a real party i would suggest this place no problems. Put your stuff in the cloakroom & then just enjoy your evening without any fuss. Drinks are very resonable with pricing for central london. See you soon Zoo Bar!!!!

Had a great night here a few weeks ago. I nearly collapsed when I bought a round, but then again clubs in the west end are not cheap. Bouncers did seem a bit stern, but then again they were keeping kids out, which is a great thing. Good if you have a large group of friends and want to dance the night away. Otherwise, stick to the pubs.

Hell on earth
murgatroyd - 23 Mar 2008 09:53
was very drunk but still had a good laugh if you like cheese go there shall have to try it soberish one day then we'll see what i write LOL
daniel234 - 9 Mar 2008 23:03
Hmmm....either you guys are at a different club or your just one of those horrible people who prefer a place with a "name"!! Zoo Bar is most unpretensious club I've been to in central lonon and I love it, Everytime I go whether with my girlfriends or my boyfriend I have a great night, The music in the bar is my kinda thing, old skool house anthems & a little cheese. The drinks prices don't break the bank which is perfect cause I refuse to pay 9 a drink which for some reason seems to be the norm in most places.

The door staff have always been friendly and helpful, especially when my friend got so drunk she fell asleep, one even carried her to the taxi for me!! Now you dont get that kind of service anywhere else!

popprincess - 15 Jan 2007 15:33
To put it simply there are at least ten places within a five minute walk from this place that are better, with friendlier staff. I once left here with a friend who realised the second we stepped outside the door that she had left her scarf on her chair, and the door staff wouldn't let her go back in the "exit" to get it, she had to walk round and plead at the main door to jump the queue to fetch it. I thought that was completely spiteful. Won't go back.
jimmythefish - 12 Dec 2006 14:51
awful awful place, bully doormen, the club itself is like having a drink in the middle of kicking out time at a millwall game, seriously horrible.
nickragingthirst - 10 Nov 2006 15:21
Man, I love this place! One of the best nights out if you're in a good mood and don't mind the fact they squeeze a little too many people in.

Alright prices for this part of town as well.
Mrs_Kermit - 15 Aug 2006 11:22
CLFINAL2005, you are a good addition to this site. Whereas the rest of us who are regulars here yammer on endlessly about places like the Jerusalem Tavern, Ye Olde Mitre, the Harp and the like, you provide a welcome insight into the world of bars owned by massive pubcos. Thank you for this.

I remember coming here to meet a friend who was/is a management consultant at Accenture. He was out with his new work chums. Oh what joy.
anonymous - 3 May 2006 11:21
Not to bad once the downstairs turns into a nightclub but if you go in here during the day expecting a decent pint then you will be deeply dissapointed.

Always a nice selection of women in here late night / early morning the few times I've visited (although that may well be influenced by the amount I've had to drink).
CLFINAL2005 - 3 May 2006 10:04
Very loud and very annoying bar, hate it, why go when there are so many better bars and pubs?
s9s - 7 Jan 2006 01:14
Deafening, god-awful cave of a place stuffed with ignorant foreign students and tourists who should know better. If you are a Londoner, avoid at all costs unless you want to end up with hearing like Pete Townshend or smelling like Dot Cotton.

Caters for the tourist Euro, and neither the Australopithicus on the door or the bar staff appear to understand or speak coherent English.
That said, probably quite good fun if you are an animal. Would rather sivit Woburn or Whipsnade.
anonymous - 6 Jan 2006 13:00
Full of animals!

**cue laughter**
CheekyShepherd - 4 Jan 2006 00:04
Quite fun when someone else is very kindly paying for all the booze. Otherwise typical formulaic Ly-chester Square crap for tourists and other assorted transients. Morons will love it, I'm sure you'll know if you're one of these people.
MrLash - 16 Dec 2005 11:57
Quite simply the worst bar ive ever been to.... horrendous music, expensive drinks, and a very odd no keyring policy! I would never visit again. Ever.
drunkmarv - 8 Sep 2005 16:30
Went in there last summer for a quick drink before seeing a film at the Odeon round the corner, and i liked it in there. Hardly anyone else in there which was fine by me, and the barman seemed fairly polite. Had the most expensive bottle of cider i've ever drunk but it tasted good. Great music videos on a big screen in the corner :)
RobLawford - 20 Aug 2005 10:54
Love the Zoo Bar, especially the Underground Club. The decor and interior is really stylish, staff are friendly, drinks are yummy, and music is funky.
DNA1984 - 9 Aug 2005 16:13
Had one of the best nights out I have had for along time last weekend in Zoo Bar!!
We arrived whilst it was still happy hour and stayed all night, because the music and the atmosphere in there was soo amazing!!!
I truly recommend it to everyone-you ain't done London until you've hit Zoo Bar!!!!
CamMc - 2 Aug 2005 13:58
Love the Zoo Bar, especially the Underground Club. The decor and interior is really stylish, staff are friendly, drinks are yummy, and music is funky.
EvOgUe - 22 Jun 2005 17:34
Zoo Bar is awesome, love the club, and VIP Lounge. Free cocktail if you are on the guest list, and your in before 9pm!!!!

Yea Baby!
EvOgUe - 17 Jun 2005 17:18
Worth going just for the bouncers...anyone know if Alan is single?
Charleze - 3 Jun 2005 20:56
Zoo Bar rocks! I reserved a booth, a guest list, received a complimentary cocktail.....all via their website, and the best part is... IT WAS ALL FREE OF CHARGE!!!

The Club, drinks, staff, and venue are all great. I have no complaints! In fact I am going tonight......
anonymous - 20 May 2005 13:00
great place if you are up for the pushing and shoving , too many greaseballs with little english to feel comfortable, Gil the tequila guy deserves a top rating as he kept us well lubed with shots all night, also the staff in the down stairs bar were great once they knew us there was no need to repeat our order, she knew every time , giving her a good tip helped though. will def go again
anonymous - 30 Mar 2005 21:26
Happy hour is great, lovely barmaid (with blonde hair), makes a fab cocktail or five. The ladies bathroom attendant was surly, however as she is sitting in a bathroom all night, I think that is to be expected.
ThisMortalCoil - 25 Mar 2005 09:56
Been on saturday nights before, chart stuff upstairs, dance downstairs. Always packed but always a good night.
anonymous - 29 Dec 2004 13:21
Went on Saturday 7th November. It was really, really full but the music and atmosphere were great. Would have a lot better if there were less people.
Veronica - 8 Nov 2004 10:30
i went on a friday night so was very packed yes it was over crowded, but there wernt dirty old men when i went, and even if there were, we wouldnt take any notice of them I was with my friends and we had a great time. The music was good except it was quite hard to dance as it was over crowded. might aswell try it.
anonymous - 29 Sep 2004 15:43
My first night in London I spent here - what a blast. Friendly staff, friendly people - Just Fabulous.
Burgert Blom (Jr.) - 18 Aug 2004 09:28
Brilliant place to go for a night out, would recommend going there early due to the overcrowding later on
Dom - 11 Aug 2004 10:35
Good place if you either want just a drink or a dance but it does get way too busy quite early on, especially on Friday nites.
Overall a good place to go though.

Steph C - 3 Aug 2004 21:40
As a weekly regular, I have always loved coming here, but after a very serious incident that scarily occurred un-noticed this Friday, door staff SERIOUSLY need to consider having a limit as to how many people they should let in.
anonymous - 12 Jul 2004 19:18
very crowded, high prices!but great people!staff is very very nice(especially girl in toilets...)
eva - 24 Jun 2004 17:17
Where do I start!...First of all yes Zoo Bar does always seem to be running at double capacity, which does not make for a good. The staffs are fine and not rude. The only real down side to Zoo Bar is the over crowding.
Martin Knight - 6 Jun 2004 19:20
Not a pleasant place.Always far too crowded to enjoy yourself, personally I thought the bar staff were rude and it wasa rip off to get in,then have to pay 3.30 for a small bottle of beer. However on a positive note the females that frequent the club downstairs tend to be very nice on the eye!
Nick Hamer - 4 Jun 2004 18:30
Far to many people - over crowded, and people are quite pushy... Never again. From Cape Town - like things mellowed and Chilled...
Burgert Blom - 3 Jun 2004 15:19
I started going to Zoo Bar a few months ago and I have to tell you, it is THE best party place! It is in Leicester Square so yes it does get crowded sometimes, but me and my friends have always had such a laugh, and most of the time we've been shaking it on the dance floor with cocktails in our hands until the door men kick us out. But we keep coming back... Thanks Zoo Bar!
angela - 31 May 2004 16:33
Along with my sister, we go every Friday without fail because the music is always good and the majority of people are friendly. Drinks are overpriced and it can get a bit crowded, but generally, it's always good fun. As with EVERY bar or club you go to, you do have to be careful with your bags etc. Bar and door staff (even the woman who sits in the toilets every night!) are great. To those of you who have rubbished the place, it's obviously you who don't know how to have a good time!!! See you Friday Zoo Bar!!!
anonymous - 27 May 2004 18:57
Really crowded downstairs in venom but hey thats life! Nice doormen very chatty had a bit of a giggle with them. had a free cocktail as i was on a guestlist also jumped the que!! Good idea that guestlist x
anonymous - 13 Apr 2004 10:35
Well I've been here a few times and although it's full of West End tossers (ie, if you are slightly camp or gay you become the entertainment for them as they have a go and try and impress the whales that are posing as girls) - the staff, however, were wonderful. Nice, swift and polite. Its just the dickheads that go. They've got no dress sense and no money - and half of them dont know what soap is. The girls that go are all slags too (so that'll proabbly attract a few new punters) - if the boys have condoms in the loo, the girls should have diet and dress sense advice because JESUS do they need it

Jon - 12 Mar 2004 11:23
Absolutely horrendous. Just went this Saturday night gone. Music was awful, and was probably at double capacity as you physically couldn't move when you were inside. Spoilt a good night out. Tud.
Steve Williams - 23 Feb 2004 10:11
If you manage to un-stick your feet from the floor of this venue, you would be better off going somewhere else - ANYWHERE else in fact. Don't
get me wrong, I have been a familiar face at some of London's pikey-est
nightspots during my 5 years in the capital, but the line is drawn
firmly somewhere between Leicester Square and Bear St, where this
salubrious establishment is located.
The Zoo Bar can only aspire to the dizzy heights of mediocrity. However,
the overpriced (or should that be over-iced?) cocktails plus the surly
attitude of door staff, bar staff and DJ, mean that this place will
never be anything but a last resort for confused tourists who have been
caught out by the licensing laws (but who won't make the same mistake
again). Who knows, maybe the management will eventually disappear up
their own backsides, leaving the way clear for someone to manage the
place properly. But, until that day, if you like your cocktails to come
with a large side order of rudeness, or perhaps to be offered crack
cocaine by one of the zoo bar's punters, and if you don't mind if
someone else goes home with your wallet / mobile / walkman, then this is
the place for you.

katy - 10 Feb 2004 13:50
i worked nearby leicester square that summer and i had great times with my girl and colleagues from the oiginal tour. The happy hour is cool, so is the music
Zatochi - [email protected] - 11 Nov 2003 15:08
I went to Bar Zoo in Leicester Square with my friend on a Sat night & it was really good, fun music, busy & great cocktails!
Mel Elliott - 7 Aug 2003 11:35
ive tried...and yes its good not on a weekend though too busy and screeeching 18 yr olds...! been to a million better places

and yes i suppose the occasional dirty git.
kisskisskiss - 16 Jun 2003 12:06
We went on Bday cause Yates was closed for refurbishment! Yet there were alot of older men but aren't there in all pubs. Considering we were a big group of girls we had little touble! We all had a really good night the music was varied and the drinks were reasonable! Why not just try!
Emma - 14 Jun 2003 23:52
Oh for crying out loud - full of prepubescents and dirty old men, anyone with any semblance of taste should avoid it like the plague.
Paul - 16 Sep 2002 12:17
