Friendly welcome, the GK Hardys & Hansons bitter was well kept and at 3 a pint, decent value for an area where 3.50 is common

Although they do the "dull" Greene King beers, they do seem to try with guest ales. Aong with Abbot & Olde Trip, I was lucky they had just put Hophead back on. I really like the atmosphere of this pub and have eaten here a few times too. On the occasions the food has been excellent and good value.

Basic back-street local with a welcoming landlord and dull beer from Greeen King. My mate says the food is very good.

Has reopened with new owners- nice and cosy inside with an open fire. Beers- three on tap I think, two them decent guest ales. Small, pretty basic, but fine.

Great pub, slightly off the main beaten track, not a chav in sight and a great comfy pub for a drink and a chat. Gets a bit louder Fri & Sat nights but generally not the kind of pub where you have to shout over the music to be heard. They always have interesting bands/events on - and a (free!) table magician on Tues who is brilliant! Sunday roasts are amazingly tasty - attention to detail in veg and meat, rather than a grey slice of beef with soggy carrots, and great value, also special offers on drinks with your meal. Good range of beers and a friendly place to chill out in, what more could you ask!

My girlfriend and I visited a couple of weeks ago for sunday lunch. We ordered one beef and one chicken. The beef arrived promptly enough but the chicken had come blatantly disguised as lamb. We pointed out the error and rather than put it right the rather stroppy female member of staff informed us with her thumb stuck up her a**e that we must have ordered lamb. The receipt proved otherwise and minutes later the chicken arrived - only to be whisked away immediately and placed on another table. We were then informed that our chicken would arrive in approx 30-40 minutes. I had at this point tried a couple of mouthfuls from my beef plate and noted that the beef tasted similar to a description of something I had read about in a History of the Royal Navy (The Nelson Years), and that chef had rather than waste power cooking the diced parsnip serve it up totally raw. We decided at this point to leave and request a refund since we would rather eat together. There was no quibble regarding the refund and we were given a very well rehearsed apology and the manager insincerely hoped that the experience would not put us off coming back another time. Hope he might, but we won't. In general It must be said that the staff seemed genaerally trying to please but were, as a team, utterly hopeless.

Went there on Sunday 25/Nov/07, Gosh..... TERRIBLE FOOD!!!! My beef roast meal came with 3 pieces of toughest thin beef steaks, which didn't taste like properly roasted at all. Sesame and paprika were sprinkled on top of the whole roast meal, I didn't like it all all. Having said all this, they do have great beers there. Very cosy and traditional deco which I really like. Sadly I won't be going in again coz I really can't stand the food.

Terrible place. Have tried it to give it a chance on a couple of occasions over the last few years - mainly because it is an easy stop-off on my way to the County Ground. Drinks are ok, but the bar staff must be the worst in B&H. They're more interested in chatting to their mates. I have never waited so long for two drinks when no one else is being served. If you really want a proper pub, we've got plenty in B&H e.g. the Bugle, the Neptune, the Lion and Lobster, the Basketmakers, the Prestonville Arms...

This is what a local boozer is all about. It's cosey, with an open fire, a bit on the small side but it packs 'em in.
The main bar runs along the righthad side with a little sbug off to the left and also a spacious room upstairs with it's own bar is available to hire out for about 20 - Bargain.
This has got to be the freindliest boozer in Hove. Sit at the bar and become part of the family. The bar staff are laid back, welcoming and generally make your time there special as they also like to drink along with the clientele.
Food is amongst the best your gonna get in Hove but try not compare it to Gastro pub grub as this is not their aim.
Chavs not accepted and not welcome. live music (free style) on a Sunday.

Good selection of beers and the Sunday lunch is great value and better than most pubs in the area.

Excellent food, good beers, erratic service but OK overall. One of the better pubs in Hove.

It's mine, and I love it! Apart from that, you'll have to come and judge for yourselves!
