Since fresh and seasonal food is the best for flavour and quality we create dishes and change the menu as required so we can take advantage of the best available produce.

I've visited 3 times in the last week mainly because I have CAMRA's 20 of vouchers for use over the year.
Last sunday and monday were perfect visits. Plenty of space, excellent beer and a meal on monday with the wife. Really changed my mind about these places. UNTIL the punch up on thursday night. A drunken lout in his 20's (?) jumping over the tables to land his fist in his victims face. The bar staff were amazing - not hesitating to deal with this rather frightening situation - all over in a matter of seconds. Soon ejected and back to normal. The question arises - are they used to dealing with this? There were a good couple of hundred people in here that night which is why I avoid town pubs
like Weatherspoons. I will go back but it will be early in the week after work. Judgement reserved on this occasion

Generally a nice pub and there doesn't seem to be too many idiots in this pub. Somewhere you can sit down and relax whilst sipping a pint or 2. It puts most of the other pubs to shame in Rayleigh.

this is a good place very friendly and a nice decor, def the best place to go in rayleigh and not the usual idiot crowds you get elsewhere

Definately the best pub on Rayleigh High Street. Doesn't sell my favourite tipple which is Carling but their Fosters is a far better pint than the Carling from other pubs in the immediate area. Nice atmosphere and the staff are welcoming especially CJ and Jason. Would highly recommend this pub for a mid week drink.

After not going to this pub for the last few years, due to bad management, never any beer(when there was tasted rank) the kitchen always being closed so no food available, and unsavoury clientelle, probably the sort of people who call themselves barrybadass when on line.
Now the pub has been completely changed by the new manageress, there has been a complete change in the clientelle (no barrybadasses!) really good hot food served all day, and as for the Greek nights?, ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!,I have been to a couple of them now and the place is packed, I couldnt get a table last time, but its great to see everyone enjoying themselves dancing to the greek music after a few drinks.
When I go to a pub I want good food, good beer and a great atomosphere. I go to relax where there are no kids running about the place and I can enjoy friends company.
IF this is want your looking for in Rayleigh then Ye Olde Crown is for you.

i have recently returned to rayleigh and back to ye olde crown and how disapointed i was to find that the wonderful family atmosphere had all be lost. This time last year i took my family to a fancy dress party at the pub, we had a wonderful time throughout the day the event was a great success due to the fact that it was well organised by a good manager and good staff they all dressed up for the day, my children throughly enjoyed themselves with lots of games and competitions to enter. However this year was a discrace they shouldn't have even bothered decorating the pub if you can call it decorating there was nothing for the children. I WONT BE GOING BACK TO THIS PUB EVER AGAIN bad manager, bad attitude bad staff and not to mention bad beer and dodgy greek food

One of the other good pubs in Rayliegh Town. Has a pool table. Gets lively over the weekend. Situated on top of Crown Hill. The taxi rank is suituated opposite and the train station (Rayleigh) is at the bottom of Crown Hill.

Nice small old pub, friendly staff and good atmosphere, also showing football on a big television, probably the best in town.
