Traditional pub pretty much next door to The Dove. Like Trainman reported it does seem a real community local. Everyone in the pub seemed to know each other and the staff. As I was on my own I felt a bit billy no mates here. Three hand pumps but only two in use, Adnams Bitter and Broadside. I guess it is a free house as the pint of Broadside was only £2.60. This is up against £2.90 from an Adnams owned pub. I see they do food daily from 12:00 - 3:00. It's quite a big pub with many tables and chairs. I am not sure where the music was coming from as did not see a juke box. A good choice of Beatles music was being played whilst I was there.

Rapport evident between barstaff & punters shows this to be a sound community local. Adnams Bitter & Broadside on handpump. Varied clientele and age groups. Pool room hidden away to the rear, so not impacting on the bar space. Not bad, but users of this site will be moving rapidly on to the Dove a few yards up the road.

I agree with the previous comments. Very good staff and the beer is always good. Seem to have a very loyal clientele. Regular music. The only downside is that it really is a smoker's pub - everybody smokes and you leave smelling like an old ashtray.

If you want a good night out on a Thursday, I do recommend the Jam Nights.. quality musicians who create a great atmosphere! The staff are friendly and the place is clean, the management are doing a great job!
