A change of management has brought about an increase in trade and more of a "feel good" factor which this pub has sadly lacked in the past.
It's still basically the same pub as before, but it's amazing what can happen if you get a couple in who are prepared to make a bit of an effort.
This is a difficult area for a pub, it's slightly out of Richmond Town Centre so it's not on the circuit, but it's in an area where there's a mixture of offices and residential flats / houses.
Had a good pint of Wadworths 6X last Thursday.
Pub is quite close to where I live and I'll defo visit again

Watched the footy here on Sunday. Perfectly pleasant, I agree about the odd locals though...

well what can i say about your previous comments - fair but a bit harsh i would say - having moved to the area recently, i was invite to a freinds 30th birthday party at said "crown" - what a fantastic evening - a buffet was provided to an excellent standard - live music and disco were also provided as a package for the party - the service and standards maintained throughout the whole evening were exceptional and every single person in the party of 60+ remarked on how good the evening was - on this strength of that visit i have returned to the pub for a meeting with a client and for a drink with freinds ( who also attended the party ) on both visits we were all made welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our time there - i would recommend that any and all take a look and would dare to say "easily the best locals pub in richmond"

Comfortable, spacious corner pub, set away from the main tourist area of Richmond. Relaxing pampas/olive green decor with a mixture of leather- and fabric-upholstered seating inside pub. TV sets on quietly during sports fixtures, but wall-mounted loudspeakers suggest music on at other times.
Young's Bitter @ £2.65/pint, very good condition when I visited on Wednesday (21/06/2006). Also available was Charles Wells Bombardier and Adnam's Broadside.
Food served: Mon-Fri 1200-1500 and 1730-2030 Sat & Sun 1200-2030
Starters are £5 or less and mains £9 or less. Daily blackboard specials fall within these price brackets.
Friendly staff, and relaxed locals. Worth a visit.

Marvellous pint of Adnams Broadside on my visit the other day, but this pub seems rather soulless and lacking in atmosphere to me. Keeps changing hands which doesn't help. Phrases such as " site up for redevelopment" and "executive flats" spring to mind

There's something about the pubs on this stretch of Lower Mortlake Road that make them very difficult to get settled in to. The furniture is not great, nor particularly comfortable. The inside seems sparse and always a little too cold to take off your jacket. Also, even when it's half full there seems to always be people in your way blocking the bar/toilets/pool table. Maybe it's something in the design but I can't quite put my finger on it. Fairly crap, but plenty worse.

Typically bland modernised pub. Difficult to specifically say anything against it, it's just that it's hard to say anything in favour of it. Was rather quiet - but then again it was Tuesday evening. Unlikely to get the Friday /Saturday night psychos given its location outside Richmond town centre so might be worth visiting when it's busier. Jury still out basically

Just been refurbished again to no great effect.Large friendly pub but with quite a small but strange group of locals.Good for football on Sundays-flat screen and empty !! Guiness wasn't bad....
