please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I remember going in a pub on the Bath Road many years ago. I'm not sure if it was this one or not. But I think this was in fact my first visit here. It's quite a large pub with a seating area set aside to the rear left-hand side of the bar for dining. However early on a Friday evening, it was mainly drinkers. This is a John Barras pub. So Greene King IPA is the regular ale. Additional ales were Greene King Abbot & Sharp's Doom Bar. There is no real cider. Pretty disappointing place. But I did at least get a CAMRA discount.

Just left there after a bite to eat with 'er indoors and it was fine, a couple of Adnams ales on, including 'Ghost ship'. Food and service were good. All in all, an OK place.

Awful pub, noisy and unwelcoming. Kept us waiting 10 minutes to be served and then tells us we can't have any food because it's almost 10pm when they stop orders, note almost not after! Beer quality very average and prices very high. One to avoid.

I visited The Three Magpies again yesterday (it is now a John Barras pub) and ordered 2 pints of Stella - it is now over 4.00 a pint! Carlsberg extra cold is 3.70 and San Miguel 4.25 a pint! I was told that the brewery are responsible for setting the prices (the staff were quite embarrassed about it) - surely it makes more sense for any brewery to charge prices which are affordable to people rather than set ridiculous prices - the pub was quite empty..Although I like the pub, it is unlikely I will return unless the prices are reduced.

Visited on a Wednesday night and found this to be a decent enough place. The welcome from the bar staff was lively and genuine, which made a good start. It is a chain pub, and suffers to a degree from this, but the food was nice enough, whilst the beer, although only common ales from the Marstons stable and Black Sheep was reasonable.
This isn't a bad place if you want to escape the hotels on the A4 near to Heathrow, but at almost 3.80 per pint for bitter, it's not much cheaper.
Reading previous posts, this pub seems to have improved, as it was certainly better than in the past if they show a correct picture.

I visited with my other half for a pint before the Italian Restaurant across the A4 (excellent pizzas). The real ales London Pride, Black Sheep, Hobgoblin and Rev. St James were well kept. The service was a bit slow but it was busy and another bar staff person needed. We didn't eat as we had other plans, but the food looked OK albeit typical chain (Spirit PubCo) fayre. The pub has a very chainy ambience, lot's of '2 for the price of one' type offers framed across the walls and sticky wood vinyl top tables. It is obviously an old pub that has survived (as has the Green Man) and good to see. I do wonder where the clientele come from; many from surrounding hotels I assume.

Good beer (Kronenbourg, Guinness & John Smiths), albeit a bit on the expensive side (approx 3.60 - 3.70 a pint). The food is good too.

Looks like a bit of a scary local's pub from the outside and there were certainly a few 'characters' in there around the pool table, but go to the left and find the food area and all is much improved. Good nosh for a reasonable price - nothing fancy but it does the job. Service ok - the waiter did ask me if everything was all right several times! Beer was London Pride (good) or another one which I think was Adnams but this wasn't on.

Went in on Staurday 22nd and Sunday 23rd had a meal and a few drinks on Saturday beer was nice so was the cider pepsi for the children. Food was reasonably priced and plenty of it. Bar staff are polite. The pub could do with a bit of a face lift although it is clean it is old.

On Sunday went in for a few drinks again friendly bar staff and nice ale.

I don't often visit London but if i do again would definatly visit this pub for a meal and a pint agian

I visited this pub last month and i have to say that the service was wonderful. The only problem I had was that one of the bar staff was standing outside having a cigarette in uniform right next to my table where I was eating my food with my partner. I do not know the gentlemans name but he had black curly hair and a very bad attitude. He completely dismissed me even though i politely tried to hint to him to move away whilst smoking. But apart from that the bar staff are wonderful, we even got a thankyou from one of the male bar staff on the way out! Very lovely surprise. Whatever people have said about this pub you mmust either have a mistake or gone on an unfortunate day! I found the pub delightful and thoroughly enjoyable! Next time I'm in Heathrow you will be getting another visit from me guys! Keep up the good work!

Well i really dont know where these people who have left bad comments have been because i have been into the Three Magpies recently and all the staff are friendly, the food is great tasting for a good price. I was in this pub on Sunday 07th Sept 08 for an eveing meal and even though it wasnt 2 for 10 the meals were still cheap. I thought the standards from the staff and the pub we're excellent. 9/10 from me. Keep up the good work! See you shortly.

I visited this pub on afternoon of Sunday 17th August as I was staying down the road at the Ibis. I was with my fiancee who was flying back to the US the following day and my sister. We were very hungry and there is little choice around Heathrow Airport of good places to eat and drink. I ordered two large diet Pepsi's and an Appletize - 6.75. The two Pepsi's were very accurately poured over copious blocks of ice to around an inch and a half below the rim. A bad start. I then ordered 'Chilli Nachos for Two' at around 5.75 (pretty reasonable) for me to share with my sister. A small portion turned up! I really cannot believe the barwoman's claim that is was for two people. Also - NO CHILLI CON CARNE! "We ordered this with chilli and we ordered the two-person portion", I asked the barwoman. "That is the two-person portion and there's the chilli", she responded pointing to the guacamole! This pub unfortunately falls way short of even achieving the bare minimum quality of service you would expect from a run-of-the-mill pub. It just seemed like everything was just too much effort. I was with my American fiancee too, who is used to effortlessly exceptional customer service, so it was all rather embarrassing. I went back to my hotel instead and ordered a pepperoni pizza (which was as dry and tasteless as the box it probably came in), but that's for another bad review! When next in this area, I shall visit McDonalds!

It mades me feel sad that this pub has got a bad review. I have visted this pub for some time. They have got some very friendly bar staff, Both male and female. I always have a good time in this pub.

I noticed that the pub was clean and tide inside. That table s were clean, And the patio was clear of rubish.

The food was cooked well. And was good vaule for money. 2 meal 10. This pub gets bussy from time to time but you will always be welcomed in.

DISTGUSTING & DISHONEST PRACTICES....DO NOT GO! I was here on Friday 4th April 2008 and not only recieved short pints, but witnessed the barman twice pour the drip tray slops into a glass, top it up from the pump and then serve it to the customer. They had half full glasses of drip tray 'slop' beer lined up underneath the bar with full intention of selling it to unsuspecting customers, most of whom (like me)are tourists leaving the country. Well they're busted on this one! Fullers & Bombardier should drop this pub like a hot rock as it is simply not a good representative for their beer. Food was marginal at best. what service? I am giving it a 2 point rating based on the fact that the pub was there and it was open.

Awful place. Under poured pint. G&T in a dirty glass and no ice or lemon even after requesting it. Filthy loos - male & female. Food was just OK. Had to ask for everything from cutlery to salt/pepper to serviettes. Beer garden/patio area was dirty and every table was covered with dirty glasses. A lot of tourist/foreign trade which makes it shameful as it gives a very bad impression. Will not be returning.

I popped in here recently simply because I was at a work-thing at the hotel across the road and I wanted to have a change of scene. Clearly a chain pub (Spirit Inns?) from the menus and notices dotted about but the barman who served me my bottle of J2O was friendly and the pub didnt have a bad atmosphere for a weekday lunchtime. In fact it was a little oasis of calm amidst the hubbub of Heathrow. I cant comment on the food or the beers as I didnt sample either.

It would appear that some of the comments made have been taken off. Do not think that this will stop people commenting.

Well after reading the reviews about this pub i was a little taken about to say the least when i was invited for dinner and expected the worst.
From the minute we walked in we were greeted by happy staff who acually looked like they were enjoying there job The pub was clean and well presented I did manage to ask a member of the staff if the pub had a new owner Her answer was :no but we do have a new manager can you see the difference:
The food and service was excellent well done

Agree with previous poster, visited one lunchtime this week, first waited while the barlady figured out how to work till, then waited 25 minutes for our food to arrive only to find my cheese and bacon beefburger somehow became a chicken burger. When I asked whats going on I got a 'well thats what you payed for` which pissed me off no end because I had repeated my order to this particular waitress about three times

Far and away the WORST PUB ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET!!!

The food was DISGUSTING!!

Honestly the foulest roast dinner I have ever eaten (I only ate about a quarter of it).

The service was APPALLING.. slow, and surly.. the yorkshire puddings tasted of disinfectant, everything had been microwaved. I think my son's burger had been made from a dog.

STEER WELL CLEAR!

The beer in this pub is disgusting, The food was acceptable, but what we were served bore no relationship to the menu we ordered from. If you enjoy a pint avoid this pub at all costs

Visited the pub today. The pub has recently been refurbished so is alot brighter and tidier. Service was awful, had to wait a long time to be served. Ordered a pint of IPA, which didn't taste of anything, had to ask for the pint to be filled to the top of the glass. I stand by my earlier submitted comments. Avoid.
snowdog2112 - 24 Mar 2005 21:12
This pub is awful. Poor service, badly served drinks, high prices, unfriendly locals and bar staff. Avoid at all costs and seek out pubs in nearby Harlington, Sipson and Colnbrook. The pub needs a refit, the gents toilets are in a state.

Myself and two friend went to this pub on the 28th of April 03.
Three Scotish guys down to collect
a patient from Switzerland. We all work for the NHS here in Scotland.
We arrived at the pub at 21:15 i orderd three drinks while another went to order food we were then told "WE DO NOT TAKE SCOTTISH MONEY,ITS NOT THE BREWERS POLICY.we asked to see the manager , THEY WERE TO BUSY TO SEE US. We left the pub in GREAT spirits and went to find a cashpoint which we found and returned to the pub at 21:33,we tried to order food and were told they stoped serving at 21:30 so we went for a big mac.So if it dosent accept Scottish pounds which to my knowledge are legal tender and widely accepted all over England whats the problem.
YIP YOUR RIGHT WE WONT BE BACK. BUT COULD THIS BE A CASE OF RACISM,WE ARE IN THE PROCCES OF SEEKING HELP TO FURTHER OUR FIGHT.

It's ok to be a tempermental chef when you are good at what you do but the food in this place is appalling.
