Landlord John died earlier this year and his wife Glenys left a few months after. Terribly sad as John was one of a disappearing breed of classic landlords - he could appear curmudgeonly at first but he earned the respect and affection of his customers and looked after them very well in return. 100's turned out for his funeral. Harveys have put in a temporary team to manage it while they decide what to do with the place. Last time I visited it had that flat atmosphere you get during an inter-regnum. I hope Harveys do something imaginative and classy - this place is bursting with potential and big enough to have a great locals bar yet still offer a more extensive and ambitious menu.

What a gem The Swan is - a warm welcome, pleasant atmosphere, friendly locals and Harvey's in top form. A classic pub and well worth a visit.

out of the way pub with great beer , old school charm of times gone by ... saloon was closed but the public bar was empty and a step back in time ... nostalgia central .

A very pleasant pub just away from the town centre. The food seemed to be good and reasonably priced. The beer quality was excellent and I sampled some of the best harvey's I've had for a little while.

Enjoyed a nice Sunday evening in the sports bar recently. Good beer, good service from the girls behind the bar. This a proper pub, well worth a visit.

Traditional public house serving traditional bitters and ales brewed in the town centre. Wide selection of wines, spirits and beers.

Great food at lunchtime and in the evening. HUGE portions of tasty food including homemade pies. Delicious Sunday roasts every Sunday.

Welcoming and comfy atmosphere. Blazing log fire on chilly nights. Friendly and efficient staff. Surprisingly large garden and patio area, perfect for lazy summer drinks. Large carpark at rear.

Enormous helpings of simple food. Even a ploughman's lunch is enough for him and his family. Great beer, pub inside a bit smokey but good courtyard and garden.
