please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I have been to this pub twice and was impressed both times. The choice of ales is excellent and then wine list is good - nice to see a list that has good, hearty wines as well as the obligatory expensive efforts. The menu is varied and caters for all tastes. The whole ambience is relaxed but verging on elegant dining (maitre d'?). All in all, a good night out.

No complaints about this one. Good food, local ales and efficient and friendly service. I would imagine that it gets a bit hectic at weekends especially in the holiday season which might detract from the atmosphere but thems the breaks.

After reading the reviews my partner and I were a bit dubious of this pub. Don't know what you are all on about!! Fantastic place, food was amazing, service was great and everyone was very hospitable. Champagne especially enjoyable! Would def go back again.

Toilets are smelly and filthy and the rest of the pub is not very clean either. Landlords have an attitude and are complacent. Have not eaten here for many years, so cannot comment on it. Beer and wine is, however, very good, but the whole place lacks atmosphere. The pub is situated in a very desireable and expensive area and it is a shame it is being run in this way.

We ate here a couple of times in 2006, the first time the food was good and the service exemplory, the second time the service was hopeless and there seemed to be no organisation at all. Over the years it waxes and wanes, so be prepared for disappointment but hope for better!

my wife and I visited this pub twice in September. The beer was very well kept, the HSD was excellent. The main cources were excellent and we were told made by the chef. The desserts were OK, but they were bought in - they had run out of the homemade ones. The service was very good. I would rate this as a very good food pub, mainly for the starters and main courses. Worth a visit if you are in the locality.

I have a contrasting experience. I was there about a year ago and had the most fabulous time. The pub itself was really nice. It was quite busy so we had to wait for a table, but we were seated after a short while. We ordered our food which came in reasonable time and my goodness, the quality was just the best! Beautiful scallops..mmmm. Yes it was a tad over-priced but isnt it a gastro pub? You would certainly expect to pay what we did in any good place. I have absolutely no grumbles, and would recommend it to anyone. It has a Michelen star I believe.

I went to this pub a few weeks ago for a meal with my mother. Although the food was ok, the service was appalling and we were stuck in the middle of the restaurant near some open patio doors, we asked to be moved but the manager refused! So if you like paying for over priced pub food and bad service then on your head be it, otherwise I would avoid this place like the plague!
