user reviews of Henry's Cafe Bar, Green Park

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Has the bit of a feel of a posh Wetherspoons or beefeater inside but certainly not charging Wetherspoons prices.

They do have a few ales on which are passable but the bar seems to be dominated by keg taps dispensing fancy foreign lagers such as Kozel and American style pale ales which seem to be in fashion but are also obscenely overpriced! Also a lot of the people early evening seem to be ordering things like jugs of pimms and mojitos so you have to wait a while to be served whilst the bar staff fart arse around with bits of fruit and cocktail shakers.

You would expect this place to be pricey due to its location in Mayfair and the fact it overlooks Green Park but this place isn't just pricey, it's FOOKING PRICEY! I am planning another night out there soon but don't have an exact date yet as I need to wait for the re-mortgage of my property to go through.

Doesn't try, doesn't need to. Enough passing trade. Passable ale, but food being dished up did not look inspiring. Head down to Shepherd Market and follow your nose. Only come here if you are meeting someone at Green Park.

The food was terrible, ordered a mezze platter and got one piece of packaged ham and three slices of salami with a random piece of watermelon. Over priced and was shocked at the food.

Visited only as I needed an easy to find bar for other coming to Green Park. Very expensive, 4.45 for a Pint of Becks Vier! Miserable staff, Toilets were flooded. Won't visit again.

I didn't find the staff miserable! Our server was friendly and gave us some sightseeing tips. Food was presented really well (We had one of the Mezze platters) and tasted great. Would def. go again when in central London :)

Not as bad as some of the reviews could make you think and does have a small seating area outside where you can have a smoke or take in the bus fumes (same thing) staff were miserable but not rude ,sadly this is what to expect from a tourist trap pub in this part of town.
A g&t and a pint of lager was 13.90 very very expensive pub.

First and last time here a couple of weeks ago. Went in once to meet friends of a friend. At first I was impressed by the decor and size of the place. Very well laid out and very comfortable. That's where the good things end. It took ten minutes before I could get served, despite four people being behind the filthy bar. Service was dreadful when I eventually get served. It took the best part of three or four minutes for the incredibly slow barmaid to put up a glass of wine, then a pint bottle of cider and a glass so full of ice it was nearly impossible to fit any drink in. Pint of lager for myself was in a dirty glass, and no life in the beer whatsoever. 13 quid for three bad drinks in a dreadful bar. Never again. If they get new management and new well trained staff in, it could be a gem of a bar, but until then I advise anyone to avoid it.

Popped in here last night whilst waiting for one of our friends to turn up before heading to Dinner. Entered and was told to take a seat as there was table service. After 10 minutes and no table service I went to get our group a round of drinks. Very expensive. One of my pints was served up short, but the barman topped it up on request.

Overall its a pretty poop experience in here. Use only in emergencys

It was raining heavily yesterday and went in to get something hot in me, i liked the menu and I had such a good time I ended up getting all my friends to come there instead of at our original meeting point.

I would definately go back, possibly with a reserved table just to make sure I get the best possible seats (sofas!)

waited about 10mins at bar, stood in view of barman serving to middle section, ignored until i moved and stood infront of him.I asked why i had'nt been served to which he replied "you should have shouted out",with a smug grin! I asked for a bottle of champagne which was cool not cold and when mentioning it when ordering another bottle in advance to put on ice the reply was"the bottle feel's cold to me".
It was always a great bar over the years with good service and attitudes to match but having experienced a change in attitude to customers in recent times i will spend my hard earned elsewhere in future!

The beer is top-end expensive stuff here though so no wonder it is dear. The tea menu stops at 5pm: why do cafes close at teatime? However it is a comfortable place for the quirkyalone to sit and watch the world go by and quite honestly, if they give you your change on a saucer, take it.

Aha, they've seen what they did wrong puting in a rubish manager with a pub ethos, they've brought back an oldschool Henry's manager focused on quick, good looking, very edible bar food, slicked up the service again & low and behold the bartenders even know how to make the cocktails on the menu without turning around to find a book! Well done Henry's and the new manager, pulling it step by step back from Dingyness. Good work on diversifying the draught too! I have a headache though, note to self potent european/continental draught is not session beer for a wednesday night!

Nice looking bar, shame about the service. The prissy eastern european staff seem to be more interested in preening their hair than serving punters. I literally had to shout at one of them after he'd walked past and ignored me the third time as I stood at the bar like a lemon for almost 10 minutes. Then he had the nerve to charge 3.95 for a pint (no, that's not a typo) AND proffer the change on a tip tray. I suppose this place is targeted towards the high-earners in the area, but to be honest you don't even get what you pay for. At least it was clean and the beer/cocktail selection seemed to be fairly decent. Won't be visiting again though.

Nice bar. Great waitress, Swedish girl, excellent service, friendly and would happily go back for some more of that. Yum yum

after over a year i went back to this bar and... oh boy.....! disaster!! changed into pub.not as good as it use to be. shame. food is ok, drinks are good but, service...?what happened?? it was a great place with fantastic staff, great food and awesome drinks.stayed only for couple of drinks and needed to leave. too dark, very puby, messy, staff not as helpfull.definately won't be going back there.

Typical chain bar most of the time and not really my kind of place but I must say the cocktails are pretty nice. They also do a decent English Breakfast all day. Not the kind of place I'd go for longer than it takes to have a meal and a quick cocktail though, if I was in the mood for that kind of thing. It is quite nicely decorated inside, I think, and the staff are excellent.

I assume this is part of a chain - certainly feels that way. Vast and characterless inside.

Good location, very helpful and friendly staff. Cocktails are so-so, you get what you pay for! It is far too smoky though and, for that reason only, I shan't be making a return trip, even though the chips are very nice!

brilliant if you like waiting in a train station pub. Otherwise a typical Henry's - overpriced and rather dull. Nothing else to add apart from the fact that their club sandwich is quite nice.

Recently went to Henry's for pre show drinks and snacks - Wonderful atmosphere. Very cool and the Happy Hour Cocktails an absolute winner! We'll be back! (ps. the staff are brilliant!)

The cocktails are great - though they are expensive. The atmosphere is laid back and the air con really helped in the summer.
Katherine White - 6 Aug 2004 12:09
Expensive (as you would expect, given the location and "branding" of the establishment) but friendly. Extremely popular with American tourists, probably because it reflects the style of an American bar.

Smart bar, although this did put off some of the more student-minded members of our party...

It remains as an excellent memory, despite my having been mistaken there as Phil Collins in March 2002!

Truly Superb!

We loved everything about Henry's! The food was good, the service was great, and all of the people were friendly and helpful. The bartenders were awesome and alot of fun.

Great service, bottle tricks from the bartenders were impressive to say the least! Food was top notch too.

Had dinner at Henry's in April 2002. Food quality was excellent...portions were excellent....prices were excellent. Can't wait to go there again. Will always make it part of my trip to the UK each year. Service...excellent. Am sending friends there to eat this month from the states.
