Great place for a good value lunchtime meal, though if you go more than once a week the music will drive you mad: same songs, same tme, EVERY DAY! Yes it's gay, some people are, get over it.

Gay bar with club below. Upper bar open all day and serves food, very pub chain style with hit and miss quality and service. Large outdoor decked area for sitting out to eat, drink or smoke. Always seems busy even mid week lunch times. Close to the tube station easy to find next to carphone warehouse.

I have only visited here once with my girlfiend who has recently moved to the area. She had been told by her female housemate that is was very male orientated. However we went there and had a really relaxing time. It was lunchtime and we sat outside on the terrace. We are vegetarians so had veggie options from the menu which were very good. Quick service at bar and serving food, nice atmosphere, mixed crowd (young and old males and females, families). I can only judge on my one visit and the inside appeared quite dark but I would gladly go back again, especially when the weather is good and you can sit outside.

if you dont like lager your gonna struggle here, food looks of the reheated variety, one barman in particular is seemed pretty grumpy having said that its quite a relaxing place for a quiet drink but even Camden has better places to offer than this.
|
Usually visit this place every time I am in London, my only gripe is the attitude of the barman who works in the day - drop the attitude, it takes more muscles to frown than smile you know!

I'm not gay, and I didn't use the toilets.
Went there not knowing it was a 'gay' pub, but after hearing, not caring. Friendly service, no ale; not too bad food. The menu was very Wetherspoons-esque, but the steak my partner had was cooked to perfection just as ordered and was good value for money.

this is a very good pub, well worth a visit, great service and the people talk too you not like many straight pubs, this pub is very similar to ERINS HOPE in COLINDALE NW LONDON, they are well run pubs and cater for the gay community, wonderful

Love it in here, met a hunky fireman from XFM, who swept me off my feet!!!

This place is the classic case of excellent potential and not a bad makeover (the roof terrace is excellent!) unfortunately the service is too often unfriendly and factory like.Prices are standard (not cheap). Being Camdens only gay pub things should be so different! Unless living locally worth the extra time going to the west end bars or the Edward in Islington.

Only been here once.. the roof terrace bit was nice
|
Good bar...however, far too many people doing shit in the toilets for my liking...

Near to Camden Town Tube station, The Black Cap is a friendly gay bar on two levels. Food is reasonable and well priced as well.

I love this pub. Great beer, good caberet (most of the time) Good staff (most of the time). If you are in Camden and fancy a quick pint, give this superb gay venue a go. 10/10

The top bar was refurbished some years ago, and is more like a "pub". Cabaret is still done in the downstairs part of the venue. It's toned down a bit, cleaned up and more welcomin than it used to be.

Hey there- Used to love this place. Haven't been in 10 years when I was a student. Living in LA now. What's the bar like now? Take care. Mo.

This is my fave bar, with a really lively young scene. Hope to see you there! ;-)

This pub is excellent. Trannies are welcome here, and it is always good fun for trannies to visit. To chill out in the upstairs bar with its adjoining roof garden, and end up downstairs dancing to the music makes a memorable evening quite different from the normal trannie venues as the crowd is much more mixed. The girls do not object to trannies using the ladies loo!

Lovely beer terrace, nice bar with good drinks. Spoiled by a minority of snooty gay men making me and my friend feel very unwelcome. OK we did stand out as being very straight but hey! We just wanted a beer!

Quite like this place for all it reminds me of a provincial gay pub... beer terrace is great in the summer. Although beer usually tastes awful. Thursday nights 'What We Like' are probably the best of the bunch at the moment with indie, electro, rock n pop tunes...

Well what an improvement this place has seen.I think in the past there has been some really bad managers, but whoever is running it now clearly knows what he's doing.I love the place, the drinks prices are really good on Monday Tuesday and Wednesdays at £1.50 for nearly everything in the club bar downstairs. Bit lacking on cabaret during the week, but the dj there is really cool - Chris Reardon.Seems to have been around forever and still makes me laugh and dance the night away.BTW - I haven't been around forever (I'm 23). My fav night is Tuesday for the Karaoke and R and B music afterwards.I agree with Lee's comments (above) in the fact that he never takes the piss out of any of the singers, except a few that he knows really well.Really nice bloke.Very funny and knows his music. No attitude in there either.

Very impressed at lunchtime, the burgers were fantastic, and very good chips - the free drink thing is a real boon! There are no ales but there is a very nice beer garden at the back, complete with curtains..

i Have been last night for the first time on a Saturday. I liked the atmosphere, music and people in there. What I liked especially about it was that it was really mixed, there were a few good looking girls and plenty of crazy guys.

everytime me or my frineds present as a lebsian at this place there are problems.. i have (and hang out with a friend) throat cancer, so i cannot talk fluently, this bar consistently turns us away.. what is that about.. if it wasnt door staffed by straight men maybe it wouldnt be a problem.. get with the times..

Visited lunchtime today - had a nice lunch Fish & Chips together with a free drink cost under £6 - representing excellent value. The upstairs bar is like a traditional pub.
Cheered up the guy behind the bar by presenting him with..... a LIGHTBULB for the fridge!

Camden's premier gay pub, featuring a cabaret and disco stage on the ground floor and a quieter upstairs bar, open late, with a roof garden area which is pleasant in the summer. Sadly, as with many pubs of this type, there is no cask conditioned real ale. Shame as I'd go there more often if it did. The only bitter (keg) is Worthingtons. Quite good food lunchtimes. The pub runs its own cab licencing service to ensure a safe ride home late at night which is a great idea if you feel vulnerable for any reason. Hope someone from the pub reads this!
