For me, ANY pub is a welcome port in a storm as the alternative to being dragged aimlessly round IKEA by the wife. For that alone, The Hayloft, one of the nearest pubs to the Nottingham IKEA, has a lot to commend it, and better still, it is NOT owned by Greene King as are many of the local pubs which G-K acquired as a result of buying and promptly closing the nearby Hardy & Hanson brewery and producing dreadful imitations of the former excellent Kimberley brews at Bury St Edmunds.

When I escaped from IKEA yesterday, the Hayloft had hand pumps clipped for Hobgoblin, Doom Bar and St. Austell Proper Job. Doom Bar was not available, but the Proper Job at £3.15 a pint wasn't bad and it was served by pleasant bar staff. I have had perfect pints of Proper Job at the St. Austell brewery, but I will give the Hayloft an overall rating of 7/10.

I only rate this pub a 2 as the staff keep it going i very much agree with user regular12.

you see i used to work at this pub so i no first hand exactly how disgusting the managers behaviour is.

i have made a complaint to his manager and sent the email and following doing so about an unpleasent visit i was told by this terrable man that i am barred.
i dealt with my sistuation in the correct way on the night i was NOT rude to him at all i just asked for my drink to be changed as the coke was flat the drink costing over 3 and he refused he said it was flat because i had ice in it.
i replied with ok well im not drinking it we will go somewere else when everyone has finished walked away and left it at that.
the next day a customer complained the coke was flat and he changed it straight away.
so rather than making a scene in the pub i thought i would finally tell his management everything he had been up to and every last bit was the truth.

my out come from this .. ?? so far i feel i have been completley ignored and resulted in being barred from the pub because the manager didnt like the fact someone has outed him.
i am missing out as it is a local pub which is close for everyone to meet.

The only reason this pub is still open is because off the bar staff that work here..
The people actually running this place must be blind to think the man they have employed has anything to do with the success.

The landlord May as well not even be there all he does is sit at the end of the bar drunk ! and uses foul language to his staff members, There is also a lady that is there as well im not sure if she works their but he refers to her as ... Woman .

I will not be returning

Looks like a conversion of an old building, but actually a new build made to look old. Pleasant and friendly enough. Food menu looked OK and reasonably priced. Real ales, including one from Castle Rock. Bus stop right outside. Multiple screens for watching sport.

It is called The Hayloft so I am going to assume it was once a barn. So it's got atmosphere and it's barn-like, but not overwhelmingly so. I always get Walkers Salt & Vinegar crisps along with my pint. There's just something nice about Walkers and a pint. After that, who needs another meal?
