As busy on Friday night as it was 3 years ago but that's half-term for you I suppose. At least we had been there earlier in the afternoon for a cider (Orchard Pig Reveller and Ashton Press) as our evening visit was limited to a quick steak and kidney suet pudding (again) and a pint of Dark Star Festival before we decided it was far too crowded for us (if they offer you a table in "Room 1" then it's not one of the front rooms but the corridor that runs outside from the bar). Range of ales had improved since my last visit (still Ringwood Fortyniner and Best but also the Festival, Arbor Pocket Rocket and one from Plain Ales). Furthermore, they had just finished fitting out a burger shack in the beer garden which was offering its own different drinks options including Butcombe Goram IPA, Thatchers Stan's Big Apple and Butcombe Bohemia.

A pleasant find after we'd heard the village pub had closed. The person who told us this obviously was unaware of the other pub - or just not a fan. We nipped in here after getting off the bus at the stop outside one stop before we were intending. What a lovely and friendly place. The lad behind the bar was welcoming and the choice of ales and ciders was pretty good we thought. All-in-all would recommend.

As other reviewers seem to have preferred this village's other pub (which is now closed), I wasn't expecting too much but was pleasantly surprised. It's a straightforward village pub with two quiet rooms at the front (i.e. no music or TV), another room at the back which was showing the World Cup and a further area in front of the bar counter at the back of the pub. Not the most inspring range of beer (Ringwood's Best & Fortyniner, Sharp's Atlantic and one from Cottage Brewing) but my choice (Sharp's) was fine and the steak and kidney suet pudding, chips and veg was plentiful and good value.

Beer is of good quality but range is uninspiring (Courage Directors, Ringwood Fortyniner and Ringwood Best). Food was OK, the lasagne is obviously microwaved and might be cooked elsewhere. One of the party found a piece or rubber (probably from the lid of a bottle) in their lasagne and we told the staff who unreservedly apologised and said they would take it off the bill. Staff we mostly courteous. We have been coming here off and on for around 20-30 years. The current landlady has just arrive so will give it another chance.

Strange pub...Staff friendly enough, beer good but somewhat lacking in atmosphere, maybe because of the weird layout and all the different rooms. It was the closest pub to our holiday cottage but we preferred the Ship a bit further down the road.

Excellent beer, friendly staff. I stayed in the cottage across the street for a week back in early august. They let me bring my young kids in every night for dominoes, darts, etc. For food, go the the Ship Inn down the street.

Interesting pub, lots of windows into other rooms, strange. Try and work out what parts where built when. Visited on a quiet weekday night. Beer was nice but boring selection. Ok pub

Beer OK but the food did not appeal so we went to the Castle at Corfe. Staff had this take it or leave it attitude so we left.

We've eaten here several times and although the food's a bit hit and miss, the beer's good,Ringwood Fortyniner and Best, and there's always a very friendly welcome and helpful service.Odd layout inside, and a small, sunny garden which is okay, but not great.A good place to stop and have a simple homemade lunch, ham and eggs, soup, ploughman's,and relax and have a beer.
